(Proposal for 72HR Film Festival)

cinethon (noun)

1) A mythical serpent-like cryptid stretching some 26 films long. Is rumored to be dangerous. Is
known to kill by constriction of its victims.

2) The ultimate movie marathon. A 72-hour celebration of the splendid pleasures and diverse
riches of the motion picture. Is equal parts slumber party; film festival; and circus. A community
togetherness all parts fun!

OVERVIEW

SPECS

Martin Luther King Day Weekend 2014 (January 16th - 19th)
@ Tapps Arts Center
26 Films
10 Special Events

Welcome to CINETHON, Columbias first 72 hour film festival, where we will celebrate all the
splendid pleasures and diverse riches of the movies! Brought to you by The Point of View Film
Series at Tapps Arts Center (P.O.V.), the festival will emphasize all the broad taste and
inventive showmanship you've come to expect from P.O.V. over the course of its existence.
Here at P.O.V., we love movies. And we know you do, too. Accordingly, over the course of the
Martin Luther King Day Weekend (January 16th - 19th), the Tapps Arts Center will be
transformed into a functioning 24-hour movie house--think of Cinethon as giant slumber party
meets epic movie marathon. Showcasing both Curated Selections picked by our expert
P.O.V. staff, as well as Sponsored Selections" chosen by our generous sponsors, the
mishmash of eclectic tastes and styles is meant to provoke conversation within the community
and affirm the sanctuary so many of us find in the darkened theatre. But wait, theres more! In
addition to our fantastic line up of films, Cinethon will also feature an assortment of live
entertainment acts and events. Interspersed throughout the festival, these include surprise
guests, movie trivia, live music, raffle drawings, and much more. The proceeds from Cinethon
will go toward supplementing Point of View's fiscal budget for 2015.

THE FILMS

In addition to the Curated Selections" chosen by our P.O.V. staff, we are encouraging each of
our Cinethon sponsors to also select a film of their choosing to be screened. These "Sponsored
Selections will make up approximately one half of the entire festivals program. Our aim in
mixing together both curated and sponsor-selected titles is to make Cinethon a true dialogue
between film lovers. This is your opportunity to talk back to us, to turn us on to something new, to
move us. Indeed, as programmers, we frequently have the privilege of choosing titles for the
public to see, but rare is our opportunity to hear back from you. What is your desert island
movie? or What film is sentimental for you, little known, or underrated? These picks should
above all else be personal. Be they large or small, flashy or understated, tragic or comedic, they
should speak to your individual sensibilities and life experiences, telling us something about the
world we live in.

SPONSORSHIP (cost and benefits)

Sponsoring a festival film is a two step process. Essentially, what a sponsor is paying for when
sponsoring a film is the sum total cost of the selected film's public performance license
(BOOKING FEE) plus the charge for the sponsor's chosen screening time (SLOT TIME FEE).
While the booking fee for any given film may vary (usually ranging anywhere between $75 -
$500) our slot time fees are priced at three fixed level ratesPrimetime, Late Night, and Fringe.
As in any film festival, more prized prime time slots (those during the suspected peak
attendance hours) will be distinguished in importance by the higher cost associated with them. In
other words, the better the time slot the higher the fee. Slot Time selection order will be chosen
by process of lottery and then finalized on a first come first serve basis.

SLOT TIME RATES

Primetime - $350
Late Night - $250
Fringe - $150

A hypothetical example of cost would look similar to this:

BOOKING FEE (Bebes Kids).............................................................................................$150
SLOT TIME FEE (Primetime: Sat. August 30th @ 9 PM)........$350
TOTAL COST......$500

For sponsoring a film a sponsor will be provided with the following:

Product Placement

Logos on Programs and Posters

Invitation to Present/Introduce Chosen Film

Vocal/Visual Acknowledgement Throughout Festival

Complimentary admission for you and up to 3 members of your group or
business to a screening of your choice.

30 second ad to run during festival
