Highlighted Research
A One-Pot Amide Synthesis/Reduction Pathway: Efficient Preparation of Calcimimetic Agents
September 2013
Synopsis: Developed, under supervision, a concise synthesis of calcimimetic agent NPS-R467 via
condensation of an acyl succinimide with an (R)--(methyl)benzylamine derivative and subsequent
reduction with Dibal-H. Shared insights gained during literature research with group resulting in increased
method development speed for multiple calcimimetic target agents.

The Asymmetric Henry Reaction: Ephedra Derived Ligands as Chiral Auxiliaries
September 2011
Research Presented at the Spring 2012 Illinois State University Research Symposium
Synopsis: Developed, under supervision, a method for stereoselective synthesis of the beta-adrenergic
blocker denopamine via an organometallic-catalyzed asymmetric nitro-aldol reaction. Extensively studied
effectiveness of Ephedra derived ligands as directing groups for stereoselectivity nitro-aldol additions.
Shared insights gained during study of para-substituted benzaldehyde derived substrates which
significantly increased enantiomeric excesses achieved via the proposed pathway.
