The photocopies must be made directly from an original document. Certified copies of copied documents or certified copies of previously certified copies will not be accepted. Proper certification should appear on each page of the documents, and should show:
(1) the signature of the person certifying the document and the date of signing (2) the printed name* of the person certifying the document (3) the contact details* of the person certifying the document - this may be a business address, telephone number or email address (4) qualification or status* of the person certifying the document where possible, an official stamp indicating the qualification/status of the certifier, i.e. J P, Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public if the certifier is a member of Engineers Australia, a membership number (5) a statement such as I certify this to be a true copy of the original document I have sighted or similar wording
* Where the name, status, and contact details are in a foreign language, an English language translation of these details needs to be provided.
Engineers Australia will only accept copies of original documents certified by persons listed as persons before whom a Statutory Declaration may be made, or by Engineers Australia staff member.

Here are some of the persons who are authorised to witness a statutory declaration (Part 1 & Part 2). If you are overseas, your copies of original documents may be certified by persons listed in Part 3 of this document.
Part 1 a person who is currently licensed or registered under a law to practise in one of the following occupations:
Chiropractor Dentist Legal practitioner Medical practitioner Nurse Optometrist Patent attorney Pharmacist Physiotherapist Psychologist Trade marks attorney Veterinary Surgeon

Part 2 a person who is in the following list:
Agent of the Australian Postal Corporation who is in charge of an office supplying postal services to the public Australian Consular Officer, or Australian Diplomatic Officer, (within the meaning of the Consular Fees Act 1955) J udge, or Master of a court, Magistrate J ustice of the Peace Member of the Association of Taxation and Management Accountants Member of the Australian Defence Force who is an officer, or a non- commissioned officer within the meaning of the Defence Forces Discipline Act 1982 with 5 or more years of continuous service, or a warrant officer within the meaning of this act Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants of the National Institute of Accountants Member of Engineers Australia, other than at the grade of Student Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Minister of Religion registered under Division 1 of Part IV of the Marriage Act 1961 Notary public Police Officer Permanent employee of the Australian Postal Corporation with 5 or more years of continuous service who is employed in an office supplying postal services to the public Person before whom a statutory declaration may be made under the law of the State or Territory, or of a Commonwealth, State or Territory Authority Sheriff or Sheriffs officer Teacher employed on a full-time basis at a school or tertiary education institution
Part 3 persons overseas, authorised for Engineers Australias purposes
A Notary Public authorised in the country of certification A Commissioner for Oaths (Declarations) authorised in the country of certification A Solicitor, Lawyer, Barrister or J udge authorised in the country of certification A J ustice of the Peace authorised in the country of certification An officer of an Australian Diplomatic Post A current financial member of Engineers Australia other than at the grade of Student (membership number must be shown)
