Course Description
This course consists of lectures, demonstrations, laboratory exercises, plus question and answer
sessions designed to familiarize the student with the features, operation, and maintenance of the
ProSafe RS system using engineering utilities.

Objectives/Outcomes
Upon completing the course, the learner will be able to exhibit the ability to:
o Identify the naming conventions and hardware layout of the ProSafe RS
o Access the Maintenance Support Tools & System Status displays.
o Integration with Centum VP or CS3000
o ProSafe-RS SCS Project Downloading/Validity Check Tools
o Replace CPU & I/O modules in the ProSafe RS
o Sequence of Events Recorder/SCS Reports
o Security/Password Protection Procedures

Intended Audience
All Technicians/Maintenance personnel responsible for maintaining the ProSafe RS system.

Course Prerequisites
None

Technical Requirements
o Basic file/folder manipulation in a Windows environment

Materials
Each learner will be provided with the appropriate course workbook.

Requirements to Be Awarded CEUs
o Submit completed course Registration Form
o Fulfill financial obligations
o Fulfill the 90% attendance requirement by signing-in each day of facilitated course
o Fulfill the 70% or above overall scoring requirement on labs and projects

Day 1
o Introduction to ProSafe-RS and comparison with DCS systems
o Identify ProSafe-RS Hardware and perform I/O Wiring procedures
o Navigating through the ProSafe-RS SCS Manager (Workbench) software
o Identify and perform the SCS Testing procedures
o Define SCS Security Levels
o Perform an Offline Download of ProSafe-RS Project
o Perform SCS Project Debugging procedures

Day 2
o Describe/perform Password Protection procedures
o Describe/perform I/O Locking and Forcing procedures
o Interpret the operation of a detailed ProSafe-RS SCS Project
o Describe/perform Integration with Centum VP or CS3000
o Describe the operation of the SCS Maintenance Support Tools
o Explain procedures for CPU Module replacement and perform CPU replacement
o Describe/perform the Database Validity Check Tool
o

Day 3
o Explain I/O Module replacement and perform I/O module replacement
o Describe the I/O Parameter Builder functions and settings
o Describe/perform the Version Control Tool procedures
o Explain/perform Master database Restore function
o Describe/define the settings for the Sequence of Events Recorder
o Define/perform the various SCS Reporting procedures
