LOCAL SPORTS CLUB CLAIMS FANTASTIC PRIZE IN COMPETITION!

A Doncaster based cycling club, which has helped to teach bike skills to
children as young as five, is the lucky winner of 500 courtesy of Miller
Homes Yorkshire!

Established in 1926 Doncaster Wheelers Cycling Club, which has historically
been a club for road biking enthusiasts, has, this summer, launched a junior
section for the first time which has already attracted 26 members aged
between 5 and 14.

This was a fantastic opportunity for us to try and secure some much needed
funds from such a reputable company who had already helped other clubs like
us, commented Martin Maltby Doncaster Wheelers club member.

The competition, held annually by Miller Homes, is designed to offer a helping
hand to local sports clubs which are an intrinsic part of communities.

Miller Homes is not just about housebuilding, its about building communities
and we support this in a variety of ways, commented Steve McElroy sales
director Miller Homes Yorkshire. Our Summer of Sport competition
encourages people of all ages to join community based sports clubs which
play a real part in towns and villages across the region. This year were thrilled
to have the Doncaster Knights Rugby Union Football Club help us with our
judging who are a fine example of a sports club that allows players of all ages
to participate and provides a real community spirit for spectators at their
Castle Park ground in Doncaster.

This is the third year that Miller Homes' annual 'Summer of Sport' Campaign
has taken place. This years competition was launched earlier this summer
and local sports teams from across the region were invited to say why they
were most deserving of the prize.

"We are thrilled to have received this prize and the entire club passes on our
thanks to Miller Homes and the Doncaster Knights for choosing us, said
Martin. This prize money will allow us to train volunteers to become Level 2
coaches and also access essential first aid training. Well be able to make a
real difference to our junior section and attract more members encouraging
young people to discover the joys of cycling.

"Doncaster Wheelers are worthy winners of this years competition, said
Steve McElroy. It is pleasing to see that they are passing on their love and
knowledge of this popular sport to future generations and we commend them
for their efforts and enthusiasm.

Once again, the calibre of the applications from the regions sports clubs was
extremely high and demonstrated the variety and commitment of sporting
clubs for all ages and abilities.

Michael Casey, Communications Manager of Doncaster Knights RFC
commented: "Doncaster Wheelers were our winning choice for their ability to
evolve with trends and times even as they head towards their 100
th

anniversary. Their obvious enthusiasm for making cycling accessible for all
was evident and we wish them every success as they take their club from
strength to strength.

Miller Homes continues to support the communities in which it builds new
homes. There are currently 11 developments located across the region and
