Tata Steel Europe is also working with other steelmakers in Europe on major research and
development project, ULCOS (ultra low CO
2
steelmaking), to develop breakthrough technologies
which can reduce CO
2
emissions per tonne of steel produced by at least 50%.
Bake Hardened 260 is a new hi-tech steel grade developed by Tata Steel Europe, which protects
cars from dents and makes door and bonnets 7% lighter.
Tata Steel in India has embarked on Project Innovent - a vehicle for consumer-in Innovation,
aimed at creating new services and solutions that can lead to higher margins and increased
differentiation

1. JV between Tata Steel & Nippon Steel Corporation
The implementation of the 0.6 mtpa Continuous Annealing and Processing Line (CAPL) project at
Jamshedpur for the production of automotive cold rolled flat products has gone on-stream. CAPL
technology is best suited for the production of high-quality automotive skin panel steels and for the
production of high-strength grades of cold rolled steels.
2. Tata Steel is aggressively pursuing completion of the first phase of the 6 million tonnes per annum
greenfield project in Kalinganagar, with stage-wise commissioning expected to start by end of
Financial Year 2014-15
3. Tata Steel is the anchor tenant for the industrial park being developed at Gopalpur on an area of
2,952 acres. The Company has obtained coastal regulatory zone (CRZ) approval from the Union
Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for the industrial park
