Creative Barking and Dagenham (CBD) is part of the Art Council Englands

Creative People and Places (CPP) programme. CPP is a national action research
programme to get more people involved in the arts in areas where people dont
normall get involved. CBD supports people who live in Barking and
Dagenham to e!perience and "e inspired " the arts.
Creative Barking and Dagenham (CBD) is funded " "oth Arts Council England
and Barking # Dagenham Council and takes place "etween $%&'(&). CBD is
designed to test out new approaches to involving local people in creative things
to do and see. *ur aim is to make a long lasting di+erence to thousands of
people in the "orough and inspire a lasting passion for arts and culture.
CBD is managed " a consortium made up of ,tudio - Arts. Arc /heatre. A 0ew
Direction. Collective 1oice and Barking and Dagenham Council. 2e are also
working in partnership with Barking and Dagenham Council for 1oluntar
,ervice and Barking and Dagenham College.
The aims of CBD are:
&. /o achieve a long(term increase in levels of arts engagement in Barking #
Dagenham. /his means more than &%.%%% people saing thed like to
"e involved with an arts or cultural activit or performance at least -
times per ear.
$. /o increase the tpes of decisions that residents can make regarding
creative activities happening in their "orough. and involve them in direct
decision making for the pro3ect.
-. /o "ring more mone into the area for creative pro3ects.
'. /o leave a stronger local arts infrastructure and cultural o+er after $%&).
4. /o have a positive e+ect on communit cohesion and well"eing.
). /o develop the reputation of Barking and Dagenham as a cultural
destination where ou can see and take part in a wide range of creative
events and activities.
The programme has four main areas of activity:
1. An artistic programme of arts activities and events in landmarks.
neigh"ourhoods and parks across Barking # Dagenham. commissioned
with local residents and arts professionals.

2.The People Going Places Fund: a fund for people who live and work
in Barking and Dagenham. designed to strengthen the local arts sector
and e!pand the range of creative activities availa"le in the "orough.
3.The Cultural Connectors et!or"5 local adults sharing their
e!pertise with the CBD pro3ect and developing their own creative ideas.
/here are currentl 4% Cultural Connectors and this num"er will grow to
over &%% during the pro3ect.
4.An audience development programme# /his will promote arts
activities alread taking place in the "orough. as well as new
performances. 6t will make it easier and cheaper for B#D residents to
"ene7t from cultural activities "oth in and outside of the "orough.

Principal Aims of the $o%:
/his is a new post. created to provide dedicated communications and
administrative support to the Creative Barking and Dagenham Programme

Directors. /he role will help to deliver and promote Creative Barking and
Dagenham pro3ects and act as the 7rst point of contact for the da(to(da
administration of the programme.

Communications
/o research and chase up content to pu"licise our commissions. pro3ects
and funding schemes
/o write listings. online and in print
/o activel market CBD activities via print and social media updates
/o "e a point of contact for our Cultural Connector volunteer network. on
the phone. via email. face"ook. twitter. whatsapp and in person.
/o answer and redirect phone and email enDuiries from artists.
organisation and the pu"lic
Feep an up to date press clippings folder
/o deliver Creative Barking and Dagenhams e(newsletter. Activit
includes working with internal and e!ternal stakeholders to collate
content. using 9ail Chimp templates to produce each issue. distri"uting.
analsing responses and working with other internal stakeholders to
proactivel grow the e(su"scri"er list.

cop. listings. "logs. video and vo! pops. under the guidance of the
Programme Directors.
