Configuring Lotus Notes email for Offline Use via Replication

Choose File, Replication, New Replica


Choose the path on the computer to save the replica
Click the More Settings button
Click OK on the screens to start the replication creation process.
Youll see Replicating database 1(of1 ! Your "ame in the status bar at the bottom of the screen
#hese are the settings for the $ffice("et%ork.
You ma& see the Replication tab after the replica has been created and in there &ou %ill see a line %ith
the ne% database (&our name, the last time that replication %as run and the status.
'et up the settings for &our (ocation %hen %orking $ffline. "otes usuall& has a default set up named
)sland(*isconnected
#o edit the location, select File, Mobile, Locations
*ouble+click on the )sland(*isconnected location
Click on the ,dit (ocation button to edit this document
Click on the -ail tab and change the mail file path to the location %here &ou saved the replica
Click on the Replication tab
.ncheck the Replication interval bo/, then click the 'ave 0 Close button and close &our address book.
1hen logging into "otes %hen not connected to the net%ork, select the )sland (*isconnected profile
.sing this option %ill cause "otes to open the (ocal Replica instead of tr&ing to connect to &our server
mail file. )f &ou do not select this option, &ou %ill still be able to open the replica. You can right click on
the mail envelope button on the left of the "otes screen and select to $pen Replica2
1hen logging into "otes %hen &ou have an internet connection (&ou %ill select the $ffice ("et%ork
location on the login screen, &ou %ill be prompted to send an& unsent email
)f &ou select "o because &ou might %ant to revie% the mail in the $utgoing -ail database, &ou can open
the database b& using the "otes menu option, 3ile, *atabase, $pen,
'elect (ocal for the server, then t&pe mailbo! in the 3ilename field.
You can bookmark this database for faster opening later if &ou %ould like.
You can then take %hatever action &ou %ould like on the messages in the bo/. #he Release button has
several options to choose from. You can also 4ust leave %hats there and &ou %ill be prompted again on
%hether to send the email or not %hen &ou log back into (otus "otes.
#here ma& be times %hen &ou dont kno% if &ou are using &our replica or &our mail file on the server. #o
check this, &ou can vie% the database properties. 'elect 3ile, *atabase, 5roperties
)f &ou see .# #&ler 6dmin7.# #&ler for the 'erver, then &ou are %orking in &our mail file on the server.
)f &ou see (ocal for the 'erver, &ou are %orking on &our local replica.
