Trunk or Treat: The Mission and Christian Education Teams invite you
to join us for our 4
th
annual Trunk or Treat event! This is a safe and
unique way to trick or treat by going trunk to trunk in a family friendly,
festive atmosphere. Individuals, families or groups can sign up to deco-
rate a trunk and provide candy or trinkets to the little ghosts, goblins and
princesses. Please sign up at the Welcome Center if you would like to
provide a Trunk and Treats and how many people you will be bringing

Christian Education


Childrens Church Volunteers and those who ar e thinking about join-
ing this team are needed at a training session on Sunday, October 12th at
12:00 pm until 1:15 pm. Lunch will be provided. This session is mandato-
ry for the safety of our children. Sign up on line or at the Guest Center.

Coming in December !!!Volunteers needed now!!! Saint Luke's hopes to
reach out to neighbors - especially ones with children - this Christmas by
hosting our first-ever Christmas VBS. The dates and times are Mon, Dec 29 -
Wed, Dec 31, from 9:30-11:30 AM. Registration for this Christmas VBS
will begin in November. Volunteers are needed now though so we can con-
tinue planning and ensure we have enough workers for the VBS. Please sign
up today online at ourstlukes.org or at the Guest Center or by calling Sarah
Stone at

Unglued Womens Bible Study continues Monday nights at 7:00 pm
through the month of October. God gave us emotions to experience life,
not destroy it! This six week video based series by Lysa Terkeurst will
explore how to use emotions in positive ways. Please join us at Terri
Greens home, 1017 Meadows Court, Maryville, IL. For more information
call Terri Green (345-6772).


All children, teen and adult Sunday classes are scheduled
between 9:15 and 10:15 AM every Sunday morning.


Every Living Vessel Is Special (E.L.V.I.S.) Adult Christian Education
Class Leader Ron Dyson The E.L.V.I.S. Adult class is open to
Adults of all ages. The class uses audio/visual materials to visit a variety
of locations/topics including tours of the Holy Land, Bible event loca-
tions, address contemporary Christian challenges, question Mysteries of
the Bible, and explore biblical messages presented in classic movies and
television including the Andy Griffith shows.

October/November 2014 Schedule
Focus on the Family Series That the World May Know - In Oc-
tober and November we will be studying volume 4 (10 lessons, 1 per
week) with Ray Vander Laan as we explore a new biblical sites asso-
ciated with the Death & Resurrection of the Messiah each week
throughout the Holy Land. Ray ends each lesson with a faith lessons
that are designed to challenge and stimulate our thinking and under-
standing of Christ and the events of his life and ministry.
Andy Griffith Show - These TV shows from yesteryear are filled
with underlying biblical themes and lessons that are not just fun to
watch but also apply to our daily lives today. Come smile with us as
we travel back to Mayberry for light-hearted fun and biblical lessons.

Mysteries of the Bible - Come with us as we explore questions regarding
the Bible and how archeologists and scientists continue to discover evi-
dence that support the Biblical events, while raising even more ques-
tions.
Christian Life Today - Par ticipate with us as we explor e issues/events
that affect our daily Christian lives. Learn from the experts as we take
news stories straight from the headlines and into the ELVIS classroom to
discuss the impact in our daily Christian lives.
Come join us! All visitors are welcome and we are now in a larger room
with have plenty of seats for everyone!

Missions


Adult Mission Trip Trivia Night, Missions Around the World Tr ivia Night
Friday, October 10th, doors open at 6:00 pm and trivia starts at 7:00 pm. We also
need silent auction items. Please have then at church by Sunday, Oct. 5th. Ta-
bles are $100 each with 8-10 persons per table. Please call the church office to
reserve your table. (618-345-9911)

CAC Homework Ministry: Missions Around the Corner This group of
missionaries will travel to the Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis to
help in their Homework Rooms. We will be helping elementary, middle school
and high school students with daily homework. No formal experience is neces-
sary. The group leaves St. Lukes at 3:30 pm each Thursday and returns about
6:00 pm. Please contact John Ashbrook (314-374-8919) for more information.

Maryville Food Pantry: Missions Around the Corner: Each year , the
Maryville Food Pantry provides a Thanksgiving basket for each of the approxi-
mately fifty families that use the Pantry on a regular basis. Please stop by the
table in the Narthex, pick up some of the feathers from the Thanksgiving turkey,
purchase the items listed on the feathers, and return the items to St. Luke's
by Sunday, November 16. The baskets will be filled the week befor e
Thanksgiving and given to families who would otherwise not be able to enjoy a
holiday meal. As always, thanks for your incredible generosity and support!







Handbell choir member s needed at St. Lukes! Our Divine Appeals Hand-
bell Choir practices on Wednesday evening at 6:15 in the chapel. We need mu-
sicians who are willing to practice weekly and play in worship the 2nd Sunday
