1. Greetings.

Please state your name, age and which school

did you come from. Was/Is it a single-sex school or mixed
school?
The name is ainul !rif "in ul#arnain. $urrently 1% years
old. &earned in 'e#olah (enengah )e*angsaan !gama
'ultan (uhammad, a male-school.
+. ,ow do you feel after going to a single-sex/mixed school
for -certain .eriod of time- years? Would you ha/e
.referred the alternati/e? !ny .ersonal ex.erience on why
you .referred the alternati/e?
I0m glad I registered myself into a single-sex school. 1o.
2. In your o.inion, why do you thin# schools that se.arate
gender still exist? ,as it a s.eci3c *ene3t to the society?
I don0t #now. Pro*a*ly *ecause most of the mixed school
.roduced excellent results com.ared to singled school, in
terms of num*er of school I meant. Well, some dude in my
class sometimes says that, 4We0ll *e more energi5ed if
there were girls in our class6. That0s *ullshit. I guess, he
only meant half of it. "ene3ts to the society? "etter
communication *etween di7erent gender I thin#, *ecause
they were already ada.ted to the circumstances.
8. 9o you study *etter in single-sex/mixed school? :la*orate
on why you said yes or no. 9o same gender students
ma#e *etter study .artners? Why? Personal ex.eriences
are encouraged.
"etter in single-gender school. "ecause u.on reaching
maturity, the anxiety to 3nd a mate for one was *rought
along, that is, lo/e and romance. 'chool su..osed to *e
the .latform where students should focus on their studies
and #e.t aside their romance *usiness for time *eing.
Ironically, e/en there are still some of my classmates or
#ids in the other class managed to 3nd themsel/es a
girlfriend e/en though they were in se.arate schools.
Imagine if they were in a mixed-gender school, higher
.ossi*ilities I guess ? ,ence, focusing on studies would *e
a lot easier if we were to *e in a single-gender school.
;. Single-sex school< =rom the as.ect of socialisation, do
you 3nd it di>cult to mix with the o..osite gender? Why?
Yes . Well, 3/e years learning in a single-gender school
surely would 3nd it /ery di>cult, they0re used to hanging
out guys with guys and girls with girls. ?ne0s mind only
#nows how starts a con/ersation that only his or her
gender would *e interested in, as if, guys tal#ing a*out
foot*all and girls tal#ing a*out fashion.
Mixed school< =rom the as.ect of socialisation, do you
thin# you are at an u..er-hand com.ared to the single-sex
school students? Why?
@. Single-sex school< 9o you 3nd it di>cult to .artici.ate in
mixed gender acti/ities, for exam.le, co-curricular and
academic acti/ities? Why?
In the beginning, yes . 1atural instinct I guess. "ut as
time .assed, we were getting used to it. &i#e me who0s
always in/ol/ed in academic .rograms, only thin# of
gaining more #nowledge, 3nd it easier when I was
conducting a grou. discussion with female students. Aou
won0t feel any aw#wardness *ecause your mind was set
for study .ur.ose.
Mixed school< 9o you 3nd it di>cult to colla*orate with
students from single-sex schools in any acti/ities? Why?
B. In your o.inion, do you thin# that, in the future, students
from single-sex schools would ha/e .ro*lems in socialising
with the o..osite gender?
Single-sex school< 9o you face such .ro*lems? Why?
I wouldnt say 100% wont be facing any probles,
probably a few of the would, li!e "% aybe . 1o.
&i#e I told you, my mind was set to anything *ut romance
when it comes to sociali5ing with o..osite gender.
1aturally a guy would 3nd it di>cult to tal# to a girl, in
.erson, only if he had crush on her, so as the girl.
%. 9o .arents0 *iased /iews on young relationshi.s ma#e
them .refer single-sex schools? Why do you thin# your
.arents sent you to a single-sex/mixed school?
(ost of the reasons, yes. It would a lot easier for me to
concentrate on my studies.
C. 9o single-sex schools create an atmos.here where
students de/elo. unnecessary feelings for schoolmates of
same gender? Why?
1o, unless he0s insane. ?*/iously, it would *e a total
disaster to o..ose your natural instinctD 1o solutions
created, only damnation.
1E. If gi/en a chance, would you ha/e .referred single-
sex/mixed school? Why?
In the .ast, I would .ro*a*ly choose the otherwise *ut
loo#ing at myself today, single-gender school would *e the
*est o.tion. The *rotherhood ties *etween us has
strengthen oursel/es to face the outside world u.on
graduating from school.
11. In future, would you send your child to a single-sex
school? Why?
Well, if he or she can learn how to disci.line him/herself
and good enough to thin# what0s good for him/her and
what0s *ad, I wouldn0t mind sending him/her into a mixed
school. "ut it will *e *etter to register them into a single-
gender school where he/ she can focus more on study and
his/her .arents.
1+. =inally, do you thin# that single-sex schools should *e
a*olished or encouraged? 9oes it really matter to society
or a7ects them in any way? !ny .ersonal o.inions on this
matter?
:ncouraged. Aes, more social .ro*lems would *e
minimi5ed as they can learn how to *e disci.lined and
tame their romance desire. In my o.inion, an instilment of
religion education and element into one0s self, singled or
mixed school won0t *e a .ro*lem.
12. Fust a little Guestion ,ow do you feel after
answering all these Guestions?
To *e more thoughtful. I guess this is what my .arent had
*een thin#ing a*out when registering me into a school.
H&aughingI
Than# you for .artici.ating in this. ,a/e a great dayD
