INTRODUCTION
Wind energy is a source of renewable power, which comes from air
current fowing across the earths surface. Wind turbines harvest this
kinetic energy and convert it into usable power. It is one of the
fastest growing sources of electricity and one of the fastest growing
sources of electricity and one of the fastest growing markets in the
world today (N Wind !nergy ,"##$%.&hese growth trends can be
linked to the multi'dimensional bene(ts associated with wind energy.
In economic preference, developing local sources to meet our
energy needs means that we use less fossil fuel. &hat means wind
energy is helping the development of local economic. Wind energy
can also help diversify the economies of rural communities .Wind
energy is a source of the future as our traditional fossils fuels
become scarcer and the public policies blames environmental costs
to sources of pollution (N Wind !nergy, "##$%.
)urning of coal releases harmful particulate emissions, sulphur
dio*ide and nitrogen o*ides that cause breathing problem and
asthma and acid rain. oal as one of the primary contributors of
carbon dio*ide causes global warming and mercury contamination of
our lakes and (shes (N Wind !nergy, "##$%.Natural gas is a better
option than coal, but it still produces considerable air pollution and
contributes to global warming. Nuclear energy produces no
particulate emissions, but it creates dangerous radioactive wastes,
which will re+uire thousands of years careful storage (N Wind
!nergy, "##$%.,ll these sources, coal, gas, and nuclear power are
limited fuels. Wind, on the other hand is a completely renewable fuel
source. -odern wind energy turbines safely and e.ciently turn wind
into useable energy. Without future delay, we should consider the
use of wind turbine since within the social costs of energy
production.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
In -alaysia, particularly in /abah state area ,wind data collected
from the Weather 0nderground (Weather 0nderground "#12%,
duration 1
st
3une "#12 to 4
th
5ctober "#12,found the mean average
wind speed reached 6km7h. -a*imum average wind speed could
also be achieved at 2$km7h, well as a minimum average speed at
about 1.4km7h.
&herefore, in such environment, /abah can be considered as a low
wind speed region. 8owever, even in such low wind speed, there is
still a great potential energy. With current technology, it is possible
to e*tract energy in such low wind speed and more research can be
conducted on this range of low wind speed energy harvester. &his is
a worth as a renewable energy and is a green energy .&herefore,
protecting the environment and at the same time provide as source
of renewable energy.

BENEFITS
Wind energy releases no pollution into the air or water, and does not
contribute to global warming. ,ccording to the ,merican Wind
!nergy ,ssociation, 9on average, each -Wh of electricity generated
in the 0./. results in the emission of 1,2:1 pounds of carbon dio*ide
(5"%, 6.4 pounds of sulfur dio*ide (/5"% and 2.44 pounds of
nitrogen o*ides (N5*%. &hus the 1# million -Wh of electricity
generated annually by 0./. wind farms represents about ;.6 million
tons in avoided 5" emissions, 26,4## tons of /5" and 16,64# tons
of N5*. &his avoided 5" e+uals over 1.< million tons of carbon,
enough to (ll 1<# trains, each 1## cars long, with each car holding
1## tons of carbon every year.9 ,nd unlike most other electricity
sources, wind turbines do not consume water. Wind power is a free
and ine*haustible (9renewable9% source of energy. 0nlike fossil fuels
such as coal and oil, which e*ist in a (nite supply and which must be
e*tracted from the earth at great environmental cost, wind turbines
harness a boundless supply of kinetic energy in the form of wind.
,dding wind power to the energy supply diversi(es the national
energy portfolio and reduces reliance on imported fuels, stabili=ing
the cost of electricity, reducing vulnerability to price spikes and
supply disruptions, and bolstering the security of our national energy
supply.
