Design of Turbo Generator foundation
Interfusion has designed Turbo-Generator(TG) foundation for a 500 MW thermal power
station. The TG foundation consists of a framed structure with base mat and concrete
columns to support TG deck. The deck is supported on vibration isolation system (VIS). The
TG deck supports steam turbines, generator and actuator. The Vibration isolation system is
used to cutoff/ reduce vibrations of machine being transmitted to the foundation. The TG
deck is designed for static and dynamic loads specidied by the machine manufacturer. The
complete dynamic analysis is carried out in ANSYS. The substructure(column and base mat)
is designed for static forces transferred through the VIS. STAAD.Pro is used to carry out
static analysis. The foundation frame is kept separated from TG hall building to prevent
transfer of vibrations to the building.
Interfusion has experience of designing TG foundation without VIS also.
