1. Welcoming speech by head of English Panel
1.1.CikZaleha welcomed members to the first meeting for English Panel 2011.
1.2.She congratulates members of the panel for coming to the meeting.
1.3.Cik Noreen proposed minutes of the Second English Panel Meeting 2010 to
be conformed, En. Abdullah seconded the proposal.

2. Arising Matters
2.1.Cik Noreen asks about the ICTL timetable for 2011.
2.2.CikZaleha says ICTL cannot been done because of computer problem

3. Post-mortem
3.1.CikZaleha hoped that all English teachers alert on schools performance.
3.2.In 2010 UPSR, our percentage for English paper is lower than the previous
year but we manage to produce one 5As achiever.
3.3.Headcount 2010:

3.4.There will be an observation for each teacher on this January as the JPN
already asks school for the observation report.
3.5.CikZaleha is the person in-charge for English teachers observation.

4. Strategic Planning.
4.1.CikZaleha asks all English teachers to prepare their strategic planning for
2011 by classes.
4.2.The entire target must be achievable and explicit.
4.3.Supposed to be done in English.
4.4.Use column format.
4.5.Hand in before 31 January 2011.

5. Planning for the year 2011
5.1.English Day
5.1.1. English Day is set on Wednesday, every week.
5.2.English week
5.2.1. The panel need to conform the date for English week on the next
meeting.
5.3.English Board
5.3.1. The place is set at the board in front of Computer Lab
5.3.2. Each teacher will take charge to put material for every month.

6. Self-Access Learning
6.1.CikZaleha congratulates Cik Noreen for her success in managing SAL
room.
6.2.Urge other teachers to use SAL room regularly.

7. ICTL
7.1.CikZaleha informedthat the panelis still waiting for an official letter to
confirm on whether to continue or to dismiss the ICTL program for this
year.

8. SBOA
8.1.SBOA will be done twice a year.
8.2.En. Abdullah asks about when to do SBOA, is there any timetable for
teacher to complete the SBOA.
8.3.CikZaleha says that the SBOA need to be completed before every
semester exam.

9. District Level Competition

9.1.Last years Action Song competition was a complete success in term of

our pupils participation as well as our performance as a host.
9.2.SK. Putra will take part in this year Action Song Level one which will be
held at SK Kampai in April.
9.3.Teacher in charge is Cik Noreen AnakKeloni.

10. Test and Examination
10.1.
CikZaleha asks teachers to hand in 1 copy of exam questions to be
kept in Questions Bank file.
10.2.
She also reminds about the format to be use in exam paper. For level
1, the font suggested is Comic Sans with 14 font size. For level 2, use
Century Gothic with 12 font size.
10.3.
English teachers should hand in their examination and monthly test
result to the head of English Panel after the exam/test.
10.4.
Mid and final exam paper should hand in to the head of the panel to
be checked.

12. Coaching
12.1.
Our panel will implement Coaching as a small forum to talk and
discuss issues and to overcome the issues collectively.
12.2.
English teachers are welcome to have discussion with PenuturJatis
mentor, Mr. John Cruft.

13. Teaching and Learning
13.1.
CikZalehasuggested the grammar topics that level one pupil should
master by the end of year 3.
13.2.
The topics are:
-simple present tense
-articles
-conjunction (and, but and so)
-preposition
-WH-questions
-countable and uncountable noun
-gender
-verbs
13.3.

She hope by the time pupils reach year 6, they will be able to

understand and to use the particular grammar correctly.

13.4.
More T&L issues will be discussed in the next meeting.
13.5.
Problems in T&L please refer to attached.
14. Closure
14.1.
CikZaleha conveys her gratitude for the attendance and support all
the panel member has given, and hopes that the entire panel will put their
100% to improve English learning and teaching and also in implementing
improved techniques in the classroom.
