AMTIR-1 is an amorphous infrared transmitting glass composed of germanium, arsenic, and selenium. It has several desirable properties, including high optical homogeneity, low cost, and a thermal change in refractive index of 72x10^-6/°C, making it suitable for infrared optical systems. The glass transmits well from 1-14μm and has a use temperature of 300°C. It is corrosion resistant to various chemicals except alkalis, to which it dissolves.
