Ge#eral re"lat!o#s
1. According to the law the final thesis is part of every university study programme. Its
defense is part of state exam and is one of conditionos of regular graduation.
2. The final thesis is :
a/ bachelors thesis ! undergraduate study level I." bachelors degree
b/ graduation thesis ! postgraduate study level II. " masters degree
c/ dissertation thesis ! postgraduate study level III. ! doctoral degree
#. In artistic study programmes the final thesis has two parts :
a/ artistic performance /wor$ of art/ artistic pro%ect
b/ written part connected with study programme

1. &inal thesis supervisor /tutor and consultants are designated from pedagogues of the
relevant department.
2. In case the student has a specific topic' the head of department can as$ in written form
the head of a different department to designate a consultant and in the case of
a dissertation thesis a pedagogue from a different faculty' university or an expert in
practice. The head of department submits re(uirements for consultants in written form
for approval to the dean of faculty.

1. The bachelors and graduation thesis reader is proposed by the tutor of final thesis
and is approved by the relevant department.
2. )achelors and graduation thesis readers are usually pedagogues from relevant
department /lecturer' senior lecturer' professor/. In the postgraduate study level II.
the reader who is a lecturer has to have an Art*. or +h*. degree. In %ustified cases
the reader can be a pedagogue from a different department' faculty' university or an
expert in practice' in such cases the head of department submits re(uirements for the
oponent in written form for approval to the dean of the faculty.
#. The dissertation final thesis readers are proposed by the tutor and approved by
a relevant +rofessional board according to its Internal regulations.

1. The reader wor$s out a written assessment and proposes a credit /A ! &,/. The
reader submits the assessment to the faculty registrar not later than a wee$ before the
date of final thesis defense.
2. The supervisor /tutor of the final thesis wor$s out a written assessment and
proposes a credit /A ! &,/. The supervisor /tutor of the final thesis submits the
assessment to the faculty registrar not later than a wee$ before the date of final thesis
defense.

The art!st!c )art of f!#al thes!s
1. According to the artistic study programme the artistic performance /wor$ of art/
artistic pro%ect is the predominant part of the final thesis.
2. An audiorecording of the artistic performance or a videorecording of the artistic
pro%ect' resp. the score of wor$ of art /composition/ represent the documentation of the
artistic part.
#. *ocumentation of performances reali-ed on the floor of .usic *ance &aculty of
Academy of +erforming Arts is provided by the faculty. In case the artistic
performance is reali-ed outside the .usic and dance &aculty of Academy of
+erforming Arts' the student himself has to provide documentation.

The written part of the final thesis contains these main items :
1. introductory part
2. main textual part
#. attachments /not obligatory/
1. The introductory part of the final thesis contains the following items in given order :
a/ cover
b/ front page
c/ ac$nowledgements /not obligatory/
d/ abstract in official language
e/ abstract in /nglish or other foreign language
f/ contents
g/ list of examples and list of charts /not obligatory/
h/ list of abbreviations and signs /not obligatory/
i/ glossary /not obligatory/
a/ The final thesis written part cover contains :
" name of university'
" name of faculty in which the student is enrolled'
" the thesis title and subtitle if there is one'
" type of final thesis /bachelors' graduation' dissertation/'
" first name' family name and degrees of the thesis author'
" code /registration number/'
" year of thesis submitting'
b/ The front page contains full information about the thesis in the following
structure :
" name of university'
" name of faculty in which the student is enrolled'
" the thesis title and subtitle if there is one'
" final thesis type /bachelors' graduation or dissertation/'
" first name' family name and degrees of thesis author'
" code /registration number/'
" study programme'
" study speciali-ations number and name'
" first name' family name and degrees of the tutor'
" in case of external tutor the consultants first name' family name and degrees'
" home university'
" place and year of thesis submitting
c/ The abstract contains information about the ob%ective of the thesis' a brief contents
and in the final part of the abstract the fulfilment of the ob%ective results and
significance of the whole wor$ are characteri-ed #"0 $ey words are included in it.
I tis written in official language and /nglish or other foreign language.
2. The main textual part of final thesis consists of the following parts :
Introduction' in which the author briefly and concisely characteri-es the state of
$nowledge or practice in the relevant field/theme and informs the reader with
significant ob%ectives and intentions of the wor$. In the introduction the author
explains the importance of the wor$ and his/her decision to cover the given topic.
.ain body represents the main part of the thesis and its structure depends on the type
of wor$.
It usually has these items :
+resent state of the solved problem in his/her own country and abroad /the author
states available information and $nowledge about the topic' current local and foreign
published wor$s represent the resources for processing the topic/'
Aim of the wor$ /characteri-es the solved topic/'
1esults of the wor$ /the most significant part of the final thesis ! own opinions' ideas'
analysis and achieved solutions/.

The f!#al thes!s- recome#ded formal la$o"t 3 1r!tte# )art
1. The final thesis is usually written in official language. If approved by the faculty it
can be written and defended also in a language different from the official language..
The application to write the thesis in a language different from the official the student
submits to to the dean of the faculty by #1 2ctober of the relevant year.
2. The recommended font is Times 3ew 1oman' si-e 12 and i tis consistent in the whole
written part. The recommended fold ad%ustment ! line ! spacing 1'0 border from left
#'0 cm' from right 2 cm' up and down 2'0 cm' orientation ! vertical' A 4 format.
#. 5itation re(uires proper (uoting ethics as well as techni(ue of citation.
/thics if citation determines the way of $eeping ethical norms in connection with
other persons ideas and resolutions which are in documents and literary sources.
6uoting techni(ue expresses how and how correctly' according to norms' the author
connects texts with recordings about documents which are in the list of bibliography.
4. The extend of bachelors ' graduation and dessertation thesis is defined in the 7tudy
2rder of .usic and *ance faculty of the Academy of +erforming Arts and in sub%ect
memorandum of each department.
0. The written part of bachelors thesis in interpretative artistic study programmes has
the character of interpretative analysis and its extend is minimaly 18 ! 20 standard
pages notation and +icture attachment are not included.
0. In speciali-ation music art the written part of the thesis shows the graduates ability to
Ac(uire music composition in its broader spectrum' to analyse it' describe its
structure' compositional and technical form and to reflect its relevant period and
evolutional connections. The graduate can also devotre to broader problems con%oid
with music and its existence as a social' aestethic' psychological' didactical and
methodological' technical and physical phenomenon.
In interpretational artistic study programmes the written part of the thesis has an
extend from 28 to 48 standard pages of text' notation and +icture attachment excluded.
9. In speciali-ation music art the written part of the thesis shows the graduates ability to
ac(uire music composition in its broader spectrum' to analyse it' describe its structure'
compositional and technical form and to reflect its relevant period and evolutional
connections. The graduate can also devote to broater problems con%oined with music
and its existence as a social' aestethic' psychological' didactical and methodoligacal'
technical and physical phenomenon.
In interpretational artistic study programmes the written part of the thesis has an
extend from 28 to 48 standard pages of text' notation and +icture attachment excluded
. In music and dnce art the written part of the thesis has 98 ! 128 standard pages. /xamples
and bibliography are not included in this extend.
:. The thesis has a standard layout re(uired by .usic and *ance &aculty of Academy of
+erforming Arts and it has to respect formal and criteria of citation and principle of
reference to primary and secondary literature in accordance with general legal enactments.

F!#al thes!s collect!o# a#d access!#
1. The written parts of bachelors and graduation thesis in printed form are submitted as
follows :
1 copy in hardcover binding
2 copies in coil binding
The written part of dissertation thesis is submitted for defense according to Internal
regulations of +rofessional board.
2. The student is obliged to submit the written part of final thesis also in electronic
version ! +*& format.

#. *ocumentation of artistic performance /wor$ of art/ artistic pro%ect is included in final
thesis.
4. The student is obliged to fill in a report about the final wor$ /both artistic and written
part/ usually by putting data in final thesis register system /attachment number 4/. The
electronic version has to correspond to printed version of the written part.
0. The artistic performance as the dominant item of the final thesis is original and as such
It is not authenticated in final thesis central registration.
9. +art of submitting the final thesis is completing the licensing contract between the
author and Academy.
