Zambia treats TB with rifampicin throughout treatment for new patients and had a treatment success rate of 88% for new smear-positive and/or culture-positive TB in 2011. Zambia also screens TB patients for HIV and provides co-trimoxazole preventive therapy and antiretroviral therapy to most HIV-positive TB patients.
