Solar Energy & Job Creation
Michael Kadish, Executive Director
GRID Alternatives
Free lunch! Amazing, inspiring speakers! What could be better?

The USC Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab is excited to kick off its 2014-2015 Lunch & Learn series
by inviting you to a special talk by Michael Kadish, Executive Director of GRID Alternatives.
(gridalternatives.org)

GRID Alternatives is a non-profit organization that specializes in bringing solar technology to
communities that may otherwise not have access. The driving vision that free, clean electricity from
the sun should be available to all has manifested in a real-world solution that creates savings and jobs
in low-income communities. Their work reaches people across the United States and internationally.
In California, GRID has developed groundbreaking partnerships with PG&E, SG&E, and So. Cal. Edison
as part of the $162 Million California Public Utilities Commission's Single-Family Affordable Solar
Homes incentive program. Through this program alone, GRID has helped thousands of California
families to go solar.

Executive Director Michael Kadish has over fifteen years of experience in public affairs, non-profit
consulting, communications, clean tech and politics. As an advocate, he has worked to pass clean
energy legislation on the local and federal level. Previously, he served as the Director of Public and
Consumer Affairs for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and was a Policy Director on Obama
for America in 2008.

The Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab (BSEL) provides opportunities for USC students, faculty, and other
individuals to use business principles to alleviate poverty. Through education, programs, events, and career
development, we inspire the next generation of enlightened business leaders and social entrepreneurs.

The Lunch & Learn series exposes the USC community to issues of social and environmental importance and how
business solutions can be used to approach these issues. They are open to Marshall undergraduate and MBA
students, as well as faculty, staff, and students from the greater USC community.
