DTC P1431 (72): BATTERY MODULE OVERHEATING, DTC P1432 (73): BATTERY CELL

OVERHEATING, DTC P1433 (78): BATTERY MODULE DETERIORATION, DTC P1449 (72):
BATTERY MODULE OVERHEATING*, DTC P1449 (73): BATTERY CELL OVERHEATING*,
DTC P1449 (78): BATTERY MODULE DETERIORATION*
Replace the battery module (see Battery Module Replacement ).
DTC P1553 (49): BATTERY MODULE TEMPERATURE SENSOR 1 SIGNAL CIRCUIT LOW
INPUT
1. Reset the MCM (see How to Reset the MCM ).
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Is DTC P1553 indicated?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose
terminals at the battery module and at the MCM.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Turn the battery module switch OFF (see Turning off power to the high voltage circuit ).
5. Remove the IPU lid (see IPU Lid Removal/Installation ).
6. Disconnect the MCM connector E (22P) and battery module 6P connector.
7. Check for continuity between MCM connector terminal E4 and body ground.
NOTE: Information marked with an asterisk (*) applies to '03 model.

Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire the battery module and the MCM (E4).
NO - Go to step 8.
8. At the battery module side, check for continuity between body ground and battery module 6P
connector terminal No. 6.

Is there continuity?
YES - Replace the battery module (see Battery Module Replacement ).
NO - Go to step 9.
9. Reconnect the MCM connector E (22P) and battery module 6P connector.
10. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
11. Measure voltage between battery module 6P connector terminals No. 4 and No. 6.

Is there about than 5 V?
i. YES - Replace the battery module (see Battery Module Replacement ).
ii. NO - Update the MCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good
MCM, then recheck (see MCM Updating for Testing ). If the symptom/indication goes away
with a known-good MCM, replace the original MCM.
