LOCATION
On the medial side of the lower leg, 3 cun
superior to Sanyinjiao SP-6, in a depression
just posterior to the medial crest of the tibia.
LOCATION NOTE
This point is most readily located one handbreadth supe-
rior to Sanyinjiao SP-6.
NEEDLING
Perpendicular or oblique insertion, 1 to 1.5 cun. Note:
according to several classical texts, this point is contrain-
dicated to moxibustion.
ACTIONS
Fortifies the Spleen and resolves dampness
Promotes urination and disperses swelling
INDICATIONS
Abdominal fullness, borborygmus, diarrhoea, pain-
ful belching, wasting of the muscles and flesh despite
normal eating and drinking.
Oedema, difficult urination, swelling of the ankle.
Sadness with counterflow qi, seminal emission.
Paralysis of the legs, leg qi, inversion counterflow of
the legs and knees, painful obstruction of the knees.
COMMENTARY
Although not a commonly used point clinically, Lougu
SP-7 is indicated for wasting of the muscles and flesh
despite normal eating and drinking. This condition is
referred to by Li Dong-yuan in the Treatise on the Spleen and
Stomach which said There are also cases of thinness
despite eating well. [This is due to] hidden Stomach fire at
the qi level resulting in large food intake; Spleen defi-
ciency leads to withered flesh

COMBINATIONS
Cold abdomen: Lougu SP-7 and Huiyang BL-35 (Sup-
plementing Life).
Difficult urination and seminal emission: Lougu
SP-7, Zhongji REN-3, Ligou LIV-5, Chengfu BL-36
and Zhiyin BL-67 (Supplementing Life).
