TOCKINGTON TRACKER TOCKINGTON TRACKER TOCKINGTON TRACKER TOCKINGTON TRACKER Headmasters Corner Welcome back to you all and a warm welcome to all of our new families. Blessed with such lovely weather the children took no time at all to settle into the routine of their new classes and special mention must go to Reception and Year 3 who must, by now, be feeling very grown up indeed. You will have received an email to say that we plan to have a Grand Opening of the Astro Turf, Adventure Playground and Library at 4.00pm next Friday. I do hope that you will all be able to join us. At this point I would like to thank Mr Andrew Williamson for the vast number of hours that he has put into this FOTM project. The Astro Turf has already proved to be a huge success with the children and I have been reliably informed that the bounce and quality of the playing surface is one of the best in Bristol. This project however would not have been possible without the very kind and generous donation made by Mr and Mrs Banks. I know you would all like to join me in thanking them both and the Grand Opening will provide us with an ideal opportunity to do so but in the meantime on behalf of the whole school, thank you. The upgrade of the Library is now in the final stages of being completed. At this point I would like to pass on my appreciation to Ms Case and her team of Librarians for all their hard work. The new year brings with it some new appointments. Following on from an interview process held last spring, I am delighted to announce that Mrs Wakeling has been appointed to the position of Deputy Head (Academic). The Weekly Newsletter of Tockington Manor School 12th September 2014 TOCKINGTON TRACKER TOCKINGTON TRACKER TOCKINGTON TRACKER TOCKINGTON TRACKER Cross-Country - Week 1 The courses were firm underfoot and it was a warm, bright day. Everyone put in an excellent effort on our first run of the 2014-2015. There were three notable marks achieved with Otis, Jake and Freddie (all Year 5) gaining entry to our Junior Boys all time list, with times of 8 minutes 42, 8 minutes 49 and 8 minutes 57 seconds respectively. Alex Grocott led the way on the Senior Course with 12 minutes 54 seconds. He was followed closely by Alex Jacobi who put himself onto our all time list with an excellent 13 minutes 4 seconds. Dalis Jones led the Junior Girls and Junior Boys home with a hard run 8 minutes 30 seconds. Ellie Parker led the Senior Girls home with 14 minutes 30 seconds. She was beaten by just four boys! Everyone in Years 3 and 4 had a fabulous first run with our new children performing admirably. Logan Fitzpatrick ran a sub 3 minute time. He is one of a select bunch of 22 to achieve this. Our mini course records go back many years! The record stands at 2 minutes 38 seconds, held by Alex Grocott. There were excellent performances from Katie Shutt, Jai Patel, Ben Jacobi, Krystof Soukup-Carne, Suzanne Saelens, Archie West, William Bate, Elizabeth Allan-Jones and Toby Gaulton. We look forward to Personal Bests being smashed next week! Well done to all the runners.
