Lighting of the G

For the first time in 13 years, the G on the side of the

hill above Hiway 2 West was glowing. An adult crew
including GHS personnel, firemen and police inserted

45 flares in their place and proceeded to light them up

before the Scotty Homecoming car parade came by. It
was quite a sight and an added boost to Scotty Pride!

9-11

At 8:46 a.m. Eastern

time this morning, the
time the first plane struck
the north tower on Sept.
11, 2001, there was a
moment of silence across
New York City. Families
of the victims gathered in
Lower Manhattan, at the
Pentagon and at a field
in Pennsylvania on this
solemn day.

Giving an idea of
why we flooded

One inch of rain equals
how many gallons of water
over 100 acres of land?
According to the United
States Geological Survey
(USGS), one inch of rain
per acre = 27,154 gallons; so
one inch of rain on 100 acres
would be 2,715,400 gallons.
So take that three-day
record rainfall in late August
of around six inches and do
the math.

Firing up a Pub Crawl

So the Saskatoon
Police
Pipes
&
Drums arent coming
to Glasgow this weekend.

Oh well.
Jon Svingen was in this morning and said, Why
cant we still have a Pub Crawl? Get a few guitars
together, some singers, we could still do it.
Hey, this could be saving what has become a
Saturday night tradition in Glasgow for the adults on
Homecoming weekend!

Jon is going to go around and talk to the bar owners/
bar tenders today to see if we cant get a Pub Crawl lined
up.

This was always a big night for our local bars, Jon
said of ringing the cash registers, I think we should do
it. It might be just as fun, maybe even funner.
If you would like to participate as a musician or
singer Saturday night, give Jon a call at 263-2113. Well
touch base with him tomorrow.
Hopefully we will have an official Pub Crawl
schedule for all those wishing to go on the Pub Crawl in
Fridays Buzz.

Glendive Archery Management Hunt now in its Fourth Year

While we certainly dont have a problem with
excessive deer populations in this part of the country
right now, the Glendive area does.
The city of Glendive took a proactive approach
to deer management, adopting a Deer Management
Action Plan, approved by Montana Fish, Wildlife and
Parks in 2011. Glendives plan utilizes hunting with
archery equipment as the primary control tool.

With a steady increase in the mule deer population
in the Glendive area, the Glendive Deer Management
Group recommended to increase the harvest of deer
in the Glendive area to promote and sustain a healthy
mule deer population.
Two hundred special archery-only antlerless mule
deer licenses, (Glendive management season license)
went on sale earlier this month on a first come first
served basis through the ALS system. Hunters may
purchase up to 5 of these licenses. Hunters may use their
general deer A license to harvest a buck within city limits
using archery equipment, but they must first harvest
an antlerless mule deer using one of the management
hunt licenses. Although the management hunt will run
continuously from September 6, 2014 to February 15,
2015, general deer A licenses are only valid during the
regular seasons (September 6 through October 19 and
October 25 through November 30, 2014).
Hunters must possess both a 2014 Conservation
license and a Bow and Arrow license. The special antlerless
deer licenses are valid only within the boundaries
designated below by FWP. All laws and rules applicable,
including landowner permission, to the 2014 general
big game season apply to this special management hunt.
Hunters must obey no shooting zones in densely populated
residential and business areas and from ridge top to ridge

top along Makoshika Park Road. No shooting zones are

identified on maps that are available at Glendive City Hall
and Makoshika State Park.
Hunters must obtain permission for City of
Glendive property and approved private property from
Glendive City Hall (406-377-3318); hunters need to sign
in at Glendive City Hall Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. Permission to hunt Makoshika State Park needs
to be obtained from the park visitor center (406-3776256). Permission for individual private property must
be obtained from the landowner.
For specific hunt information or questions contact
FWP Region 7 during business hours (8 a.m. 5 p.m.)
at 406-234-0900.
