The focus of this paper concerns a study of the quality of work life for the employees

Of telecom sector. The aim of the paper is to determine whether and how the quality
of work life affects the satisfaction level of employees of telecom employees and the
implications of these findings suggest that quality of work life in BSNL can be
enhanced by these factors as Adequate Income & Fair Compensation, Safe &
healthy working conditions, Opportunities to use & develop human capacity,
Opportunity for career growth, Social integration in the work force,
Constitutionalism in work organization, Eminence of Work Life and Social
relevance of work

The success of any organization is highly dependent on how it attracts, recruits, motivates
and retains its workforce. Todays organizations realizing the need

to be more flexible so that they are equipped to develop their workforce and enjoy their
commitment.

Therefore, organizations are required to adopt a strategy to improve the employees quality
of work life to satisfy both the organizational objectives and employee needs. The term
quality of work life refers to the favourableness' or unfavourableness of a total job
environment for people. The main aim of this study is to know employees balance their life
and to identify health determinants in working life among employees. For this purpose
quality of work life is measured by taking into account of employees Health and safety,
Work Environment, Job satisfaction, Motivation, Job Designing and Term Effectiveness. The
sample size for this study was 50 and primary data was collected from employees working
in IT companies. From this study work environment, job analysis, satisfaction and motivation
are the four major determinants of quality of work life which play the vital role for
employees better performance in the organization.

Quality of Work Life (QWL) is the key factor which attracts and holds the people in the

Several Research Studies in the world have measured the Quality of Work Life( QWL) of
Employees in Industries, Universities, Schools, Government and Non Government
Organizations. This research study highlights the quality of work life of engineering college
teachers under various dimensions. New Challenges can be faced with employees
satisfaction, commitment and involvement in achieving personal effectiveness. This study
helps the engineering college teachers to know the role of QWL on Job attitude and Personal
Effectiveness.

performance and personal effectiveness. A better Quality of Work Life improves thewell-
being of the employees as well as the organizations growth. The sample consisted of 457
engineering college teachers in Kerala State, who completed Quality of Work life
Questionnaire (Jayan, Reena, Susan & Rekha, 2010) and Job Attitude Scale (Jayan, 2004)
and Personal Effectiveness Inventory (Andros ,1999).The collected data after being coded
were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social sciences Research (SPSS) and Bivariate
correlation and One-way Anova wereused














Abstract:
A high quality of work life (QWL) is essential for all organizations to continue to
attract and retain employee. There is an impressive contribution by technical
Institutions to the development of technology and economy of our nation. The study
helps the technical institution employees to know the level of perception towards
QWL and to enhance the same by the management. The sample consists of 109
employees of a technical institution. The questionnaire was designed based on nine
important components of QWL. The research reveals that male employees are more
satisfied than female employees. Chi Square test show that there are no significance
relationship between demographic characteristics of employees and QWL. Research
also reveals that Adequacy of Resources are more correlated and Training &
Development are less correlated with QWL in teaching staffs and in case of non
teaching staffs Compensation & Rewards are more correlated and Work
Environment are less correlated with QWL. The correlation analysis also reveals that
all the dimensions of QWL are positively correlated with QWL o f faculties, which
indicates that enhancement in the dimensions of QWL can lead to increase the
overall QWL of faculties.
