The ob'ecti(es of this assignment are#
1. )i(ing the idea of the most common tool used for designing database systems i.e.
Data %low Diagram. It is used to design systems graphically and epresses
different details of system in different D%D le(els.
2. To become familiar with the flow of data between different processes and to hide
compleities in any gi(en system.
Assignment
*onsider a scenario of an +ducational and ,ecruitment Testing -ystem .+,T-/. 0e
are going to automate the +,T- system so that there may be no chances of error and
aim is to facilitate the applicant to fill the online application form with ease. To
complete this system we will di(ide this whole pro'ect in small assignment chun"s
.probably 1/ and will try to co(er e(ery phase of the database de(elopment life cycle
from scratch to implementation .-23 2ueries/. -cenario of the +,T- system is
gi(en below.

-ntrod(,tion!
The +ducational and ,ecruitment Testing -ystem .+,T-/ is an organi4ation that
conducts academic performance e(aluation tests. It is an autonomous# testing
organi4ation# conducts tests for admissions# scholarships# and recruitment purposes.
It is go(erned by a 5anagement *ommittee .!dmin/. +,T- is a testing and
assessment organi4ation facilitating in producing educated and mar"et competiti(e
human resource.
The whole system can be di(ided into following fi(e different modules:
1. +,T- Tests and $roducts
2. !pplicant ,egistration
3. !pplication processing by +,T-

Detail of each module is gi(en below:
1. +,T- Tests and $roducts:
The system will use modern technologies for de(eloping tests# test
conduction# e7mar"ing and compilation of results.
+,T- is assumed to conduct tests for the following categories:
!cademic Tests
,ecruitment Tests

The applicants who are see"ing for admission .college/uni(ersity/ or
recruitments# which re8uires an +,T- Test for its eligibility criteria# will
ha(e to apply for +,T- Test.
The applicant will be either already registered or will a new applicant.
!lready registered applicants could be login to the system by entering their
username and password and could apply for their interested test category.
In case the applicant has not been registered yet# he will first register himself
by filling and submitting the online application form a(ailable at +,T-
website. !fter submitting the application form# the applicant will recei(e a
confirmation message and the application will be stored in the +,T-
database. !fter that the applicant will print the filled application along with a
ban" deposit slip# and will deposit the re8uired amount in the mentioned
branches of ban"s. 9e will post the application form along with the ban"
deposit slip on the mentioned address.

The applications recei(ed by +,T- will be processed according to re8uired
criteria and the eligible candidates will be issued a roll number slip. The
accepted and re'ected both applications will be stored in the +,T- database.
4. Test!
:n the mentioned test date the applicant appears in the test at allocated
center.
The in(igilator (erifies the candidates (ia their original ;I* and roll number
slip. The in(igilator starts distributing the 8uestion boo"let and answer sheet
according to the selected test category. The candidate attempts the test and
returns both the answer sheet and 8uestion boo"let to the respecti(e
in(igilator.

The in(igilator will hand o(er both the answer sheet and 8uestion paper to
the staff of +ducational and ,ecruitment Testing -ystem .+,T-/. The staff
will arrange the answer sheets in proper se8uence by serial number. The staff
starts mar"ing of answer sheets through the scanned process of the system
and the system will match the attempted 8uestions with the stored 8uestion
ban" and will mar" each 8uestion as correct or incorrect. The system will
calculate the total mar"s and will store in the database. The system will
declare the online result as well as dispatch the result card to successful
candidates after appro(al from the management committee.
