The gentleman was prescribed Trazodone for depression. I took a look at his prescription and asked him
some open ended questions about any other medications he was on and about the directions. He said he
was on a multivitamin, liked to drink for medicine, and he wasn't sure how to take the Trazodone. I let him
know that he should take the Trazodone at bedtime. He should also be careful drinking alcohol while on
Trazodone, because it could make him even more drowsy. The side effects I told him to look out for were
sedation, mental fogginess or confusion. I also urged him to be careful when operating machines or
driving. I asked for the patient to give me some feedback that he understood. Then I wished him a good
day.
