Movie Screening: The Future of Energy Join hosts New York Society for Ethical Culture, NYC Coalition of Block

Annual Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park Produced by the Washington Heights/Inwood Development
Corp. (WHIDC) and sponsored by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, this festival is one of the oldest and
largest scheduled events in all NYC Parks. The festival is a unique chance to experience the Medieval period in the
most authentic setting this side of the Atlantic. The area around the Cloisters Museum in Fort Tryon Park is
transformed into a medieval market village where knights in armor, jugglers, jesters, magicians, musicians,
storytellers, and puppeteers will perform. A blacksmith, manuscript illuminator, glass bead maker, potter, stone
carver and other artisans will demonstrate their crafts. Performers and fairgoers alike dress in period-styled

New York City school children (grades 2-8) to pursue their unique passions and talents. Michael Perelstein was a

achieving financial security. Observing the paths of his kids, he realized the importance of nurturing passion and

the passions and talents of children. The Discover Your Passion Competition will award the grand prize winner

EZ Pass Phishing Scam The New York State Thruway Authority is warning that an email going around to E-ZPass
holders is actually a phishing scam. The email, which looks as though it was sent by the E-ZPass service center, asks
customers to download an invoice with a list unpaid tolls. (Hint: don't do that!) "Please be advised this is not an
authorized communication from E-ZPass, the New York State Thruway Authority or any other toll agency
associated with E-ZPass," the Thruway Authority said in a statement. "We advise you not to open or respond to
such a message should you receive one." Anyone having questions about any correspondence can call customer

An Important Update from the Social Security Administration regarding SSI Benefits: I wish to inform you of an
important change that will take place October 1, 2014 that may affect some of the people in New York State who
receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

SSI is a program based on need administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA). SSI pays a monthly cash
benefit to people age 65 and older or people who are blind or disabled, regardless of age, who meet certain basic
program requirements. The SSI payment may be comprised of a federal cash benefit and a state supplement. In
New York State, the state supplement is often combined with the federal payment and issued as a single payment.

Beginning October 1, 2014, New York State will issue its own State Supplement Payment (SSP) while SSA will pay
the federal cash benefit that is due. This means that people who receive SSI in New York and who currently receive
a combined federal and state supplement will receive two, separate payments one from SSA and another from
New York State. Their total payment amount will not change. If the individual only receives a SSP, that will be paid
by the State. While the payments will be separated beginning October 1, 2014, the SSI rules remain unchanged. If
you or those you serve have questions about the New York State Supplement Payment, you must call the New
York State SSP Customer Support Center by phone at 855-488-0541.

Some useful information on NYC litter baskets The City places and maintains garbage receptacles at commercial
street corners along standard collection routes. The City accepts requests for litter baskets in new locations within
commercial and mixed-use zones. You may not request a public litter basket for a residential area. The City also
accepts reports that public waste receptacles are overflowing or are being used for household or commercial
purposes. A person or group may adopt a City trash receptacle and change liners when the baskets are full. The
City provides liner bags and a collection schedule. A person or group may donate an upgraded litter basket to
replace a standard litter basket. The sponsor will receive a recognition sign with their name or company logo. Call

Program space for the church's Scouting Program, an outreach program for teenagers;
Redesigned and renovated green open space; and
Accessible public entrances and an elevator to the three floors of the main church building.
We would like to update you on the on-going schedule of construction occurring at our church campus. Beginning
at the end of the week of August 18 and expected to last approximately four weeks, we will begin excavating the
site to create an underground rainwater collection system as required by New York City law. Since the church
property is on very solid bedrock, the construction company will be using heavy equipment to excavate and
remove soil and rock from the front and side of the church property to prepare for the piping installation. For
three weeks, special machinery will be used to chip away at the bedrock. This jackhammer type machine will
create a loud noise and some localized vibration as it works. We will limit this work to reduce inconvenience to our
neighbors by not beginning before 8am and stopping by 6pm and only working on weekdays.

We acknowledge that construction creates inconveniences to our neighbors and the community, and as a good
neighbor, and we will work to minimize such inconveniences. Please do not hesitate to contact us at

***LG/USA PALISADES UPDATE***
The town of Leonia is the latest to adopt a resolution calling on LG to lower the height of its proposed new
headquarters building in neighboring Englewood Cliffs. (The Englewood City Council passed a similar reso last

The Palisades Meetup-Cleanup meets on the first Sunday of every month at Ross Dock, where they assemble to
clean up the trash on the trails and picnic grounds. This is a joint effort between the Palisades Insterstate Park and
