This course builds student creative and critical thinking skills through sculpting in both 2 and 3 dimensional techniques.
The students will have the opportunity to work in a variety of mediums. Students will be asked to keep a sketchbook of
sculpture ideas, practice of techniques and reflection. Students may also be asked to explore and write about the history
of sculpture.
There is a $20.00 lab fee for this class. This lab fee will go toward the purchase of materials.
Most of our class time will be spent learning through hands-on art activities,

The artwork grade is based on the evaluation of art projects and final exam. Project evaluations will
be based on written rubrics created for each major assignment.
The participation grade is based on good faith work in class including participation art projects,
discussions and activities, clean-up, written assignments, respectful behavior and prompt attendance.
Absences that are not made up, tardies, disrespectful behavior and failure to participate will
negatively effect the participation portion of a students grade.
As it is often difficult to complete art work at home and the learning community of the studio cannot
be duplicated outside of class, prompt regular attendance is essential.
!tudents are welcome to come to the art studio at lunch before and after school to work if they want or need
more time to complete projects.
