The Harmony in Music -

Music of The Spheres

Abstract:
Music of the Spheres incorporates the metaphysical principle that mathematical relationships express
qualities or tones' of energy which manifest in numbers, visual angles, shapes and sounds all connected
within a pattern of proportion. Pythagoras rst identied that the pitch of a musical note is in proportion to the
length of the string that produces it, and that intervals between harmonious sound frequencies form simple
numerical ratios. In a theory known as the Harmony of the Spheres, Pythagoras proposed that the Sun,
Moon and planets all emit their own unique hum (orbital resonance) based on their orbital revolution and that
the quality of life on Earth reects the tenor of celestial sounds which are physically imperceptible to the
human ear. Subsequently, Plato described astronomy and music as "twinned" studies of sensual recognition:
astronomy for the eyes, music for the ears, and both requiring knowledge of numerical proportions. This
paper discuss the current understanding of the forces affecting a life on Earth and how the potentials may be
altered.

Introduction

"Abstract sound as dened by the Sus 'Saute Surmad', means: the whole universe is lled with it.
Sus call the primal sound 'Saute Surmad', the tone that lls the cosmos.
The frequencies of this tone are too ne to be seen with the eyes or heard with the ear... It was
'Saute Surmad', the tone of the abstract which Muhammad perceived when he was enlightened in
the cave of Gare Hira. The Koran also knows the sound that says: 'Let there be...'. Moses heard the
same sound on the mount Sinai in his union with god, the same word became obvious to Jesus
when he was in union with the heavenly father in the wilderness.
Shiva heard the same 'Anahad Nada' in her Samadhi in the caves of the Himalaya. The ute of
Krishna is the symbol of this tone. This sound is the source of all manifestation, given to the masters
from within....
"The knower of the mystery of sound knows the mystery of the whole universe."
Hazrat Inayat Kahn

There is hardly a society which there is no report of the universal sound or of the spheric harmonies.
In East India the beginning of all things is 'Nada', the primal tone. They speak of 'Nada Brahme',
which means: the world is sound. In India and Tibet the ever sounding tone is the OM. The syllable
OM is the holiest mantra there is, and is also the symbol of the primal frequency of existence.

In ancient Greece there were many reports of the spheric sound. So Plato writes at the end of the
13th book of the law: "Every gure, every row of numbers and every assemblage of harmonious
sounds, and the accordance of the cycles of the celestial bodies and the One as an analogy for all
which is manifesting itself must become exceedingly clear to him who is searching in the right
manner. That of which we speak will however come to light if one strives to recognise all, while not
losing sight of the One. It is then that the connecting link of the ones named will come to light."

The connecting link is the law of the octave. Through systematic application of this law to all the
period phenomena, it is possible to listen to the relation of the vibrations of the planets and also to
the structures of the different atoms and molecules. In this hand-book we want to conne ourselves
to the periods of our solar system and open the way into the harmonies of the spheres.

The Glass Bead Game
In 1946 Hermann Hesse received the Nobel prize in literature for his book: The Glass Bead Game.
The principles of the Glass Bead Game are:
"... a new language, a sign and formula of which mathematics and music equally partake, enabling
Music of The Spheres
one to combine astronomical and musical formulas, a common denominator for mathematics and
music."

The law of the octave is this principle where mathematics and music equally partake. This law
makes it possible to combine astronomical and musical formulas. It is the common denominator of
astronomy, mathematics, music and colour.
Through the law of the octave it is possible to convert the whole solar system into sound. The
number of octaves gives you the 'scale'. In the same way the scale on a map helps you to visualise
the landscape, the law of the octave demonstrates relationships. The base sounds in this booklet are
calculated purely on mathematics and physics and show the scientic base of an old mystical lore.
Each step is successive, you can recalculate it, you don't have to take it on faith. These primal
sounds are based on a genuine mathematical foundation but "they unite all three principles: science,
veneration of beauty and meditation."

Hermann Hesse writes further on in the Glass Bead Game: "I suddenly realised that in the language,
or at any rate in the spirit of the Glass Bead Game, everything actually was all-meaningful, every
symbol and combination of symbols led not to single examples, experiments and proofs, but into the
centre, the mystery and innermost heart of the world, into primal knowledge. Every transition from
major to minor in a sonata, every transformation of a myth or a religious cult, every classical or
artistic formulation was, I realised in that ashing moment, if seen with a truly meditative mind, to be
nothing but a direct route into the interior of the cosmic mystery, where in the alternation between
inhaling an exhaling, between heaven and earth, between Yin and Yang, holiness is forever being
created."

The primal sounds are acoustical exponents from our natural cosmic surroundings and our focus on
them brings us into harmony with the way of thing or, as the Chinese say, in harmony with "Tao" (the
way). Being one means being one with the all. To perceive the vibrations and to reverberate with
them means to bring your life - or simply yourself - in tune with the all. When the person (Latin: per-
sonare), is in tune with the cosmos, then the cosmos is resonating in the person. When you become
aware of this consciousness reaches cosmic dimensions.
Because of the universal signicance of those sounds it is possible to use them in various areas.
Therefore it is possible to create a precise cosmically tuned meditation music, which is more
profound in its effects than normally tuned music. The same is true of the medicinal therapeutic
music. The way these basic sounds function will be explained in the forthcoming pages.

These tones are also the base for a musical setting of a horoscope. Only when horoscope music is
in tune with these tones does it given a physically and musically true sound image of the given
astronomical constellations.
Another area for use is tonepuncture (=tone- acupuncture, also known os Phonophorese). In this
case you hold the tuning fork on the acupuncture points and the vibrations ow through the
meridians.

A Dimensionless Universe

The concept of dimension is not restricted to physical objects. High-dimensional spaces occur in
mathematics and the sciences for many reasons, frequently as conguration spaces such as in
Lagrangian or Hamiltonian mechanics; these are abstract spaces, independent of the physical space
we live in. Dimension is but an appearance, an effect of motion and is non-existent. Man must think
in the light for true comprehension of Mind. As detailed in Table 1, if we consider the different
dimensions required in order for us to realise our existence, then we can deduce that Man thinks in
the low octaves of his own integration almost unaware that the higher octaves are within him, for the
lower octaves are superimposed upon the higher.

Music of The Spheres
Table 1: Dimensions of Existence. Concerning Dimension - All motion is caused by thinking Mind

In Table 2, there are the audio frequencies, colours and meters analogous to the planetary cycles in
the order of the octaves. The tone 'G' with 194.18 Hz is the 24th octave of one earth day. That
means the following: the tuning fork oscillates 194.18 times per second back and forth. If you
duplicate this vibrations at 24 octave lower, the tuning fork would need exactly one day to oscillate
back and forth. To move to a lower octave is to halve the frequency, to more up an octave is to
double the frequency. Music, which is tuned to this tone has a dynamic character, and has a
stimulating and activating effect. Therefore it is suitable for dynamic group work, especially for group
meditations with a dance and body expression focus. After Sir Isaac Newton used a prism to
separate daylight and count seven individual colours, it appeared to him that, when considering
colour-hue, this was a closed system. By taking the violet end of the spectrum and linking it to the
red start-point, he thus created a convincing circle of colours. With Newtons circular shape, the
transition between the one- and two-dimensional colour-system is complete. It is helpful to realise
that although this step was made by a physicist, it actually has little to do with physics; it is our brain
that, out of the straight line of physics, makes the circle rst drawn by Newton.

The Scalar Waves

The so-called "scalar" potential itself is not even a scalar entity, as rigorously shown by Whittaker in
1903.$ Whittaker rigorously demonstrates that the potential is a harmonic bundle of bidirectional EM
longitudinal wavepairs.$ Each wavepair is comprised of a longitudinal EM wave and its phase
conjugate replica, see Figure 2.$ So the so-called "scalar" potential is a bundle of special EM waves,
going in both directions.$ It's an entire giant collection of EM energy ows in higher EM polarization
form, reaching across the entire universe in all directions from that "source charge".$ It's an ongoing
change to the entire vacuum potential of the universe, across all space.$ And its a multiwave,
multivectorial entity.

Polarity, Gravitation and Radiation

Between the stars there are unseen forces, known and unknown, acting upon all objects. Gravitation
is the generative force and radiation is the degenerative force of the universal constant. These are
the opposing powers which, within all mass, seek an equilibrium zone of pressure for the potential of
that mass. We can use the radiesthesia technique and identify some of these forces.

Astronomy, Time and Astrology in China
Figure 3 shows the current teaching about our solar system in our schools while Figure 4a and
Figure 4b show the ancient map of the solar system. Are they correct? In China, astrology did not
evolve into the hard science of astronomy like it did in the West. Specic events in the cosmos were
thought to have links to events on earth.

In the 16th century Italian priest Matteo Ricci noted that Chinese astronomers included 400 fainter
stars on their celestial maps than Europeans did on theirs maps, "yet with all this, the Chinese
astronomers take no pains whatever to reduce the phenomena of celestial bodies to the discipline of
mathematics...they center their whole attention on that phase of astronomy which our scientists term
astrology, which may be accounted for by the fact that they believe that everything happening on this
terrestrial globe of ours depends upon the stars.

Music of The Spheres
Time itself was viewed as a fabric rather than a linear sequence of events, with events in one place
having impacts on other events regardless of their time and place. One scholar said that for Chinese
the goal is temporal harmony with in the person, among individuals and between society and
nature. Time was also seen as cyclical and political dynasties were seen as things that rose and fell
in accordance with celestial cycles. Confucius called the North Star the "Great Imperial Ruler of
Heaven.

The Innitization of the Universe - Aristotle's Universe
$ The ancient Greek atomists were among the rst to introduce the idea of an innite universe
(Innitization, is to free from limitations of space, time, circumstance, etc.; cause to become innite.)
In the fth century B.C., they claimed that tiny bits of matter (atoms) moved randomly in innite
empty space.

Because an innite number of atoms collide an innite number of times in an innite void, an innite
number of universes exist. Each universe has its own sun, planets, stars, and life forms.

A century later the inuential philosopher Aristotle (384 322 B.C.) rejected the atomists innite void
and their many universes. In its place, he put a single nite universe with the Earth located at its
exact center. The planets, Sun, and stars all circle the motionless Earth. The stars marked the outer
limits of Aristotles geocentric (Earth-centered) universe, and he refused to consider the existence of
space beyond the stellar boundaries. There are no voids, vacuums, or empty spaces in Aristotles
universe because the region between the Moon and the stars is lled with a solid, transparent,
crystalline material. Aristotles view of the universe explained all known astronomical phenomena
and satised the ordinary observers feeling that the Earth was at the center of things. It lasted for
nearly two thousand years and inspired some of the greatest scientic, philosophical, theological,
and literary minds in Western civilization.

Figure 6a. and Figure 6b. Gurdjieff described the Enneagram.

# #

Gurdjieff famously described the Enneagram as a universal symbol whose inner dynamics could be
used to explore and elucidate any question: A man may be quite alone in the desert and he can
trace the Enneagram in the sand and in it read the eternal laws of the universe. And every time he
can learn something new, something he did not know before (Ouspensky, 1949, p. 294).

The Cosmic Octave

In 1978 Hans Cousto, a Swiss mathematician and musicologist discovered the natural law of the
"Cosmic Octave" as the link between different kinds of periodically occurring natural phenomena,
such as the orbit of the planets, the weather, colours, rhythms and tones.

Using the formula of the Cosmic Octave
f . 2
n
( = multiple doubling of a certain frequency) Hans Cousto rstly transposed astronomical
periods into audible frequencies.

For example:
The octave-tone of the rotation of Earth
Period: 1 day (24 hours . 60 minutes . 60 seconds = 86 400 seconds).
The frequency of the rotation of Earth around its own axis:
1 : 86 400 seconds = 0.000 011 574 Hz (cycle per second)
This frequency multiple doubled into the middle of the audible range:
0.000 011 574 Hz x 224 = 194.18 Hz
(2
24
means 24-fold doubling).

Gravitation and Radiation are Processes

A planet is potential in place for the moment, but it is constantly moving radially toward the position
of its ever changing lowering potential. Every mass has the relative apparent ability to attract and to
repel every other mass, its relative ability depending upon its relative potential. It is therefore
possible to modify intensies, i.e. altering any processes by rst identify its resonance frequencies.

Expressions of Gravitation and Radiation (Tone - The Seventeenth Dimension)

Tone, in the sense in which we understand the meaning of the word sound, is one of the great
dimensions. Tone is registered in sound as it is in colour, plane, temperature and other dimensions.
As all sound is result of explosions of accumulating or redistributing energy. Then, all explosions are
either genero/active or radio/active.

For the purposes of comparing the variable relation of tone to the attraction of gravitation and the
repulsion of radiation it is only necessary to point out the different speeds at which any sound
reproduces itself according to the potential in which the sound nds itself.
It must necessarily follow that attributes of attraction and repulsion which seem to belong to matter
are merely illusions in respect to matter for they belong to motion only.

Zi Wei Dou Shu ( Purple Star Astrology )

Astrologers observed the stars and noticed that among so many stars, only one was seemingly
stationary while the rest revolved around it. As it was also the brightest, the star was named the
"Emperor Star" ()--the celestial equivalent of the Emperor and known in the West as Polaris.
Zi Wei Dou Shu ( Purple Star Astrology ) is a form of fortune-telling in Chinese culture. It remains
one of the most well-respected processes for laying out "The Destiny Path" or Fate". Chinese
Astrology has always been closely intertwined with Astronomy. Gifted astronomers and astrologers
were recruited as ofcials to work in Imperial Courts during the dynastic eras. In those days most
astrological charts were crafted solely for the emperor, as his personal fate had a direct bearing on
his kingdom. The court astrologers also played an important role in determining the successor to the
throne. From these charts, we can observe the routines and angles that is affecting a life on this
planet. The potentials are revealed by trained persons and alterations become possible.

Conclusion

From the understanding of the harmony of music, we can proselyte the forces acting and changing
constantly in our environment, which in turn, affecting all lives, seen and unseen; known and
unknown in the universe. In understanding the harmony of the forces in our universe, in particular,
between the planets, we may approach the world and events from the idea that to view things in their
proper context, it is important to recognise the "spiritual dynamic of the universe" to nd the pattern
of change that leads to "fundamental truth.

We are all dynamic living energy systems, existing in the sea of energy vibrations that is our world.
Our vital energy systems are in constant interaction with each other and with our environment,
exchanging energy effects on all levels. These energy effects can be grouped or categorized in a
qualitative scale according to their resonant and harmonic effects on biological energy systems.
Based on a Physics of Quality, the revolutionary science of colours, angles and forms in realising
their uses of the subtle energy and principles of geometric form to introduce natural balance
transformations to the different energy-qualities found in any living system.$
