Dear Grade 2 Families,
Hello! My name is Merrian Gagnon, and I go by Ms. Mer at school. I will be your teacher for the upcoming academic school year at the American International School in Cyprus. I hope you and your family have enjoyed a safe, healthy, and fun summer. Ms. Dina, our amazing classroom assistant this year, and I have been preparing for an outstanding school year.
Ms. Dina joined the AISC faculty in November, 2013. She has two grown daughters and a grandson that she loves dearly. Ms. Dina is originally from England, born of Cypriot parents, and returned to build a life here when she was a teen. She is looking forward to a prosperous school year with your student.
I am joining the AISC faculty along with my teaching husband, Mr. Mike Mills, and our two children in grades 8 and 10. We have spent the past few years teaching at the American International School Egypt and have also lived and taught in Miami Beach, Florida, Monterey Bay, California, and Rodney Bay, St. Lucia. In addition, I am on staff with faculty of a large university in the U.S. and teach in the College of Education department. We are happy to settle in Cyprus and find the island to be a wonderful fit for our family so far! Per the AISC Mission Statement, my teaching and personal goal is to ...inspire[s] students to become enthusiastic life-long learners....
Please find the attached sheet Elementary Information Sheet/Supply List for the required supplies for our grade. Please make sure you have brought all of the supplies by Monday, September 15, 2014. It is imperative that each student brings the appropriate supplies needed for the beginning of a progressive school year.
The partnership between home and classroom is vital to the success of our students, and our second grade program will be transparent. Regular events and updates will be emailed and posted to our classroom website, www.wearecyprus.weebly.com. Your children will take charge of their learning experience, and I encourage you to speak with them often about the amazing journey of second grade.
Please note, we are beginning school on Week 2, Day 6 of our regular schedule.
