Water Balance
Adding chlorine pucks, some shock and a little algicide is not just the way to chemically treat
swimming pool water. Water balance is the governing factor for proper water maintenance. LOOK FOR OUR

When water is out of balance, pool/spa water chemicals will not work properly or efficiently.

 Chlorine/Bromine Demand
During the pool season, after a severe algae problem or even after a heavy
rainfall, you may come across a zero reading of chlorine or bromine in your
swimming pool water. Leaving the pool water for a week or days at that
level may give you what is known as a chlorine or bromine demand .
Think of it as a negative amount of chlorine or bromine in your pool. To
return to a positive amount you’ll need to overcome the total negative
amount and then retain a positive level. This is why it may take a regular
dosage of shock to clear a pool at one time and double or even triple the
amount at another time.
Fertilizer and rain are the main culprits of producing a chlorine demand.
Algae is more or less a plant. Fertilizer is plant food and rain clouds are full
of Nitrogen, the main ingredient in Fertilizer. Another way of developing a
demand is by maintaining a very low level of sanitizer.

How to prevent a Sanitizer Demand:

Maintain a proper level of sanitizer in the pool
Oxidize pool water regularly
Use caution when fertilizing the grass and garden
Divert rain gutters away from swimming pool
Take care of any pool problems immediately
Maintain a chemical program and ensure proper balance of SIMPLICITY KIT
