What is it?
Guaranteed Savings on Screening and Background Checking Services for Nonprofits.

What is it?

What is it?

Compensation Profile of NYS Nonprofits Released The New York
Council of Nonprofits, Inc. (NYCON) has released the
“Compensation Profile of New York State Charitable Nonprofits,” a
comprehensive compensation analysis of 577 New York State non-
profits, representing over 32,000 employees in 147 job titles.
What is it?
The Interim Executive Leadership (IEL) Program is a comprehensive
training, placement and support initiative designed for qualified,
experienced nonprofit professionals in transitional nonprofit Execu-
tive Director/CEO positions in New York State. Interim Execu-
tive Leaders trained through our program will provide effective
transitional leadership to nonprofits in order to strengthen organiza-
tional health and effectiveness during a time of transition. The In-
terim Executive Leadership (IEL) Program is designed to help meet
the needs of nonprofit agencies as significant numbers of nonprofit
executives are expected to retire over the next 5 years.

Health Insurance
(with or without Administration Assistance)
What is it?
Council Services Plus (CS Plus) was created by NYCON to offer non-
profits in NYS access to insurance and employee benefits with spe-
cial emphasis on understanding the needs and requirements that
many nonprofits have. For over 35 years NYCON has administered
health insurance for its members. NYCON currently manages over 7
million dollars in health insurance premiums for several different
carriers. CS Plus can now bring that service and expertise to non-
profits that wish to get their health insurance directly from the insur-
ance carriers.
What is it?
Running a nonprofit is serious business that warrants knowledge-
able legal consultation from time to time. Whether it is a personnel
matter or a question on conflict of interest, the NYCON provides our
member agencies with independent, expert, and low-cost assistance
from attorneys who practice exclusively in nonprofit law. Assistance
is available in the creation or modification of personnel polices, by-
laws and other important corporate documents, such as contracts
and leases; assistance in the completion of various Tax Exemption
Applications; Incorporation and Amendments; Advocacy and lobby-
ing regulations; confidentiality and conflict of interest issues; estab-
lishing subsidiaries and other related entities; assistance with merg-
ers, consolidations and corporate dissolutions; etc.
• Benefits in flat amounts from $5000 to $50,000 (in increments of $5000) or, as
a multiple of Annual Salary[2] (rounded to the nearest $5,000 and capped at
$100,000)[3]
• Coverage is guaranteed when requested amounts are $50,000 or below.
• Accelerated Benefit Option for employees who become terminally ill.

What is it?

CON can provide a management analysis that looks at current
structure, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the management
structure and offer recommendations for change. This process
involves board and staff participation.

What is it?
NYCON Members receive access to Staples Business Advantage
Program, no matter the size or volume of ordering. Each agency

Ombudsman Program
What is it?
Working in conjunction with the NYS Comptroller, NYCON is now
taking online inquiries from members regarding their unresolved
contracting or payment issues the state. The program will provide
nonprofit members with:
• Education on all of the requirements needed on the organiza-
tion’s part in order to obtain contracts and payments in a timely
manner.
• Information on the specific location of their contract or payment
voucher.
• Assistance in steering and facilitating their contract or payment
voucher so that it can be received in a timely manner.

specializing in current trends and dialogue in nonprofit management
and governance comes direct from Stanford University’ Graduate
School of Business. SSIR’s mission is to share substantive insights and
