TERRAMODEL FOR WINDOWS PROTOTYPE FILES

Four prototype files have been developed for use in Nebraska. These prototype files reside in the
!"#$T$"T%&'N"()*T*T+( folder. ,a-h prototype file -ontains #-si.ed sheet/s0 in the sheet vie1
2ode. $dditional sheets -an be -reated by -opyin3 one of the blank sheets, or by i2portin3 the file
dborder.t24 usin3 the t24in -o22and. ,a-h sheet is pla-ed on a separate layer -orrespondin3 to its
sheet nu2ber.
$dditional features in-lude a layer -alled F)$%, on the plan vie1, 1hi-h enables the user to 3raphi-ally
-hoose the plot s-ale needed 1hen -reatin3 a dynavie1. *ne of the fra2es -an be -hosen as the
dynavie1 bo4, and 2oved over the points or portion of the plan vie1 to be plotted. The na2e of the
fra2e -orresponds to the plot s-ale that should be -hosen 56ettin3s75Vie1 settin3s7, and the resultin3
dynavie1 bo4 1ill e4a-tly 2at-h that of the inside plot bo4 of the #-8order sheet.

The four prototype files are briefly des-ribed as follo1s!
NEBRASKA.PRO! This is the 3eneri- prototype, -ontainin3 a sin3le #-si.ed sheet in the
sheet vie1.
DWR.PRO! This should be the prototype file to sele-t 1hen -reatin3 a ne1 :ob that 1ill
be revie1ed by #&). This -ontains 6 sheets, in-ludin3 a -over sheet and data sheet.
NON-DWR.PRO! This file is si2ilar to the #&) prototype file in that it too -ontains 6
sheets, in-ludin3 a -over sheet and data sheet. 6heet ; -losely rese2bles the old N8-
,N<-=2 for2, the top half of 1hi-h -an be used for the pipe profile, and the botto2 half
for the table of >uantities and other desi3n data.
The intent of this prototype file is to produ-e a >uality and -onsistent set of dra1in3s at
the field offi-e level by plottin3 the first ; or = sheets /sheet = 2i3ht be a plan vie1 1ith a
si2ple -ontour 2ap and -ontrol points sho1n alon3 1ith a north arro1 and s-ale0 1ith
the auto-title blo-k feature and finishin3 up the rest of the dra1in3 by hand. The user
also has the option of finishin3 the entire desi3n 1ith TerraModel.
AG-WASTE! This file -ontains a -over sheet, = -hoi-es for the data sheet, and = blank
sheets. 9se the data sheet that best -orresponds to the type of pro:e-t you 1ill be
desi3nin3. 'n addition, there are tables off to the side to utili.e for debris basins and
layout point data. 6i2ply 2ove the2 to the sheet of your -hoi-e and fill in the blanks.

To a--ess the prototype files, the t2od1in.ini file 2ust first be 2odified. This only has to be done the first
ti2e the prototype files are loaded into your hard drive. The t2od1in.ini file is lo-ated in the
!",N<"T%&;2 folder, or for so2e, in the !"6(,T)$"T%*#&'N folder. 'f you haven?t yet -usto2i.ed
your printer and pen2ap settin3s, skip this part and 3o to the Shortcut ite2 sho1n belo1. *ther1ise,
-lose TerraModel and lo-ate and open the t2od1in.ini file in &ordpad, and edit the file to in-lude the T6(
line in the lo-ation sho1n belo1!
6ave the file t2od1in.ini in its ori3inal lo-ation and -lose &ordpad.
To a--ess the prototype files in TerraModel, open one of the four e4istin3 prototype files in the
!"#$T$"T%&'N"()*T*T+( folder, and then i22ediately perfor2 a 5File756ave pro:e-t as7 -o22and and
save to a ne1 file na2e in the !"#$T$"T%&'N folder or so2e other folder of your -hoosin3. This 2ethod
of a--essin3 the prototype file/s0 1ill preserve the inte3rity of the ori3inal prototype file/s0.
To default to a spe-ifi- prototype file ea-h ti2e a ne1 pro:e-t is -reated, a--ess the 6yste2 2enu under
the file 2enu, 5File7-onfi3 syste2-56yste27, and repla-e the default prototype file 1ith one of the
prototype file na2es /in-ludin3 e4tension0 of your -hoosin3, su-h as nebra!a."ro. lose the -urrent
pro:e-t /save first if so desired0, then ea-h ti2e a ne1 pro:e-t is -reated, the prototype file attributes 1ill
be present. This only has to be done on-e, or 1henever a different prototype file is to be used as the
default for ne1 pro:e-ts.
Shortcut# 'f you haven?t yet set up your printer@plotter -onfi3urations or pen settin3s in Terra%odel,
then si2ply -opy over the t2od1in.ini file fro2 the !"#$T$"T%&'N"()*T*T+( folder into either the
!",N<"T%&;2 or !"6(,T)$"T%*#&'N folder and over1rite the e4istin3 t2od1in.ini file that 1as
installed 1ith the soft1are. This t2od1in.ini file has the T6( settin3s already established, as 1ell as the
pen2ap and plotter pen -arousel 1hi-h 1ill be used as the Nebraska standards. The user 1ill still have
to -onfi3ure the printer and plotter for the -o2puter he@she 1ill be usin3.

For #-si.e plots, 2ini2u2 te4t hei3hts should be 0.1EI for apitals and di3its, and 0.12EI for lo1er -ase letters. 0.10I
2ay be used as the absolute 2ini2u2 for labelin3 point nu2bers for layout. )efer to ,FA-E, T)-G;, and #&)

$ll te4t hei3hts less than 0.1EI should be plotted 1ith a 0.2E 22 pen 1idth or s2aller.

This -olor is often used as the -olor of the plot bo4 around a dynavie1, and is used as the -olor for
ba-k3round te4t and notes, 1hi-h notes serve as re2inders and tips as the dra1in3s are bein3 developed.
