GRADUATE STUDIES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Baskent University offers Master of Arts, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Graduate
studies are organized by Institute of European Union and International Relations, Institute of Social
Sciences, Institute of Educational Sciences, Institute of Science and Institute of Health Sciences.
Students are admitted twice a year, for the Fall and Spring semesters.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) To be able to apply to the graduate programs, student must be graduated or expecting to be graduated
from an undergraduate program.
2) To be able to apply to the Ph.D. programs, the student must have Masters degree.
3) The applicant who has both Turkish and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) citizenships can
not apply as an international student. They have to use their Turkish citizenship while applying.
4) The candidates must have ALES (Akademik Personel ve Lisansst Eitimi Giri Snav Academic
Staff and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam). GRE or GMAT scores with one of the exams below.
The medium of instruction at Baskent University is Turkish. A Turkish proficiency examination is offered
by the BASKENT TOMER (Bakent University Centre for the Teaching and Research of the Turkish
Language) so as to determine the international national applicants level of Turkish. The students
whose level of Turkish is (A) or (B) begin their studies directly in the departments they have been
admitted to. Yet, those students whose level of Turkish is not sufficient, and who have been approved to
begin their pre-bachelor, bachelor and graduate degree studies, also take, along with their studies, the
Turkish courses offered by the BASKENT TOMER.









REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION
1) Application form (applicants should pay application fee and fill in one separate application form for
each application)
2) A copy of BA, BS, MA, MSc. Diploma (The applicants, having been graduated from foreign
programs abroad, should provide the A Certificate of Equivalence (official document obtained from
YK - Higher Education Council of Turkey)
3) The original or a copy of GRE or GMAT score
4) The original or a copy of English proficiency Certificate
5) The original or a copy of Turkish proficiency Certificate
6) Official transcript in closed envelope. (The PhD applicants should provide both undergraduate and
master level transcripts)
7) Two reference letters (use the standard form, put into closed and signed envelope)

11) A Photocopy of the Passport: It has been translated into English or Turkish

Applications should be done personally. Applications by post and with missing documents are not
accepted.

APPLICATION DATE AND PLACE
The applicants can apply to Baskent University on the date, which will be announced after the exam
results are delivered.

REMARKS ABOUT THE FEES
Application fee is 100 $ for each application.

The tuition fees for the 2014-2015 academic year


The candidates who have been admitted have to have one-year health insurance and prove that,
besides their tuition fee, they have sufficient financial security to maintain themselves in Turkey.
