INTRODUCTION
This specification is in accordance with the code UNI 8438 Partizioni interne.
This code defines acceptability fields for some components characteristic, such
as thickness, density and thermal conductivity of materials.
Some of the above mentioned characterisitcs are determined with more details,
fixing a precise value derived from engineering and no more from the values
acceptability field.
However, it must be considered that the precise value defined by this
specification is always included into the acceptability fields imposed by
considered reference code.

- hygroscopic characteristics: minimum absorbency.
2.2.2 Partition walls and facings
Panels which form partition walls and facings, shall consist of a central
insulating sheet (mineral wood or fibreglass or similar) panelled on the two
faces with a sheet-steel.

Panels thickness must be of 50 mm for the partitions between corridors and
other rooms, between the rooms, between the partition walls into the public
baths and in analogous situations.
The total thickness of the partition walls dividing cabin and its bath can be
reduced to 25 mm.

- other spaces analogous to that above described.
Into the following areas the panels sheet metal must be made with stainless-
steel with a glazed finish:
- baths
- kitchen room
- galley
- laundry room
- refrigerators
Into the following areas the panels sheet metal must be made with zinc-plated
steel 1 mm painted:

This document is CONFIDENTIAL and the sole property of AGIP. It shall neither be shown to third parties nor used for purposes other than those for which it has been sent.
Into the following areas walls must be coated with a stainless-steel sheet 1 mm
thickness:
- battery rooms.
All fittings and special parts needed for the panel assembly shall be included.
All the special fittings must be supplied by the same panel manufacturer.
Panels shall be slipped, in the upper and lower part, into suitable zinc-plated
draw pieces, adequately fastened to the structure.
Panels shall be connected by metal tangs or opportunely sized profiled joints
placed in the panel thickness so that not to be visible.
Edges and T joints shall be realised with zinc-plated steel angle bars coated
with PVC or stainless steel, or by special parts with the same characteristics of
the surroundings panels.
Into the hollow spaces, where surface are not visible, the steel sheet-metal shall
be only zinc-plated, without any other finish.
2.2.3 Sheet-metal facing for walls
Walls facing shall consist of zinc-plated or stainless steel sheet-metal panels
with a thickness of 1 mm.
These panels shall be installed on a frame fastened to the wall with anti-
vibrating strips put between the frame and the sheet-metal.
Panels shall be connected each other without hollow space and fastened by
screws.
Adequate fitting finish of the facing panels shall be to realize as well in
correspondence with doors, windows intrados, facings hole as in
correspondence with the pipe-lines, ventilation ducts, wires and similar.
Adequate for strengthening and stiffening shall be to realize in correspondence
with the wall or ceiling clamps of furniture, equipment, electric board, fire
boxes and any component of furniture or plants which is to be clamped on the
above mentioned facing.
Annex 1 describes some details of the sheet-metal facings.

2.2.4 Assembly
Assembly shall be realized according to the manufactures provisions; it shall
include panels, upper and lower sections, profiled joints, all the fittings for
clamping upper and lower draw pieces to the structure and for connecting
panels to the false ceiling and to the other parts of the module as required and
also all the needed mouldings for a good interior finishing.
Panel height shall be to assure a net height between finished floor and lower
face of the false ceiling as required by the Design Specification.
Lower draw piece shall be stitch welded to the steel floor or to the steel
coamings, according to the situation.
Upper section shall be connected to the steel structure at ceiling by a C iron
with suitable height and profile.
Profiled joints shall have a suitable shape to fit the panels edge and shall be
supplied by the same manufacturer.
Panels dividing corridors from other rooms shall be extended as far as the
ceiling metal frame, otherwise the upper section (into which panel is inserted)
shall be stitch-welded to a steel coamings of 3 mm thickness, spot-welded to
the ceiling frame too.
If a continuos class B false ceiling is adopted, in accordance with SOLAS
requirement, panels can be stopped to that false ceiling.
Annex 2 describes some details about self-bearing panels assembly
Annex 3 describes some details relating to inside walls
Annex 4 describes some details describing profiles for inside walls.
