Introduction
to Verbs
Definition
A verb is a doing, being or having word.
Finite Verbs
.
Finite verbs are verbs which show time, person
and number. Every sentence must
have a finite verb. Every clause must have a finite verb.

Finite verbs can appear alone in the simple present
tense and the simple past
tense, e.g. He plays
tennis. He played
tennis.

with all other tenses, the base verb combines with a helper (auxiliary)
verb to form
a compound verb.

There is no answer, so there is no subject and'going, is not a
finite verb.
