OBJECTIVES: To design the concrete mix by DOE/ACI/IS method which has target strength 25 MPA in 28 days and has a slump of 30-60 mm. APPARATUS REQUIRED: 1. Moulds : a. Cylindrical -1 nos. b. Cubes 3 nos. 2. Vibrator/Tamping Rod 3. Mixer 4. Weighing Machine 5. Wrench of Various Sizes 6. Trowel 7. Flat Pan 8. Water Trough 9. Compaction Testing Machine 10. Metal Brush 11. Gloves MATERIALS USED: 1. Cement 2. Coarse Aggregate 3. Fine Aggregate 4. Water THEORY: Write about DOE/ACI/IS PROCEDURE: CALCULATION: RESULT AND CONCLUSION: 2. INDIRECT TENSILE TEST (SPLITTING TEST) OBJECTIVES: 1. To determine the tensile strength of concrete. 2. To compare the strength obtained with designed tensile strength. APPARATUS REQUIRED: 1. Compression Testing Machine 2. Metal Plates 3. Wooden Strips SPECIMEN USED: Prepared by: Subedi, R. 1. Cube 2. Cylinder THEORY: DOE/ACI/IS PROCEDURE: 1. Centre lines were marked on the specimen by pencil. 2. The wooden strip was set at opposite side of cube and cylinder 3. The whole arrangement was then placed in the test machine and the load at which the specimen failure takes place was recorded. OBSERVATIONS: CALCULATIONS: RESULTS: 3. SLUMP VALUE TEST OBJECTIVE: To determine workability of Green State Concretes. PROCEDURE: OBSERVATIONS: COMMENTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Note: Figure Compulsory 4. COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH TEST OBJECTIVE: 1. To determine the compressive strength of concrete specimen. 2. To compare the strength obtained with designed compressive strength. APPARATUS REQUIRED: 1. Compression Testing Machine 2. Metal/Wooden Plate SPECIMEN USED: (Prepared by DOE/ACI/IS) 1. Cube 2. Cylinder THEORY: PROCEDURE Prepared by: Subedi, R. Department of Civil Engineering, KIC
