Student Council Information and Application

Student Council 2014-15 is a group of twenty-two 4th and 5th grade students
who attend Hainerberg Elementary School.

Striving to help students, make a difference

and improve our school.
The council has meetings every Wednesday from 12:05-12:30 during recess.
Each member will have an additional day during the week, but it will vary depending on their team.
Requirements: Members maintain C and above in their classes during the school year.
Members attend all meetings and functions. Two unexcused absences are allowed during the year.
**Not meeting these two requirements will result in removal from the council.
Purpose: The Student Council is created for the purpose of improving the student life at Hainerberg Elementary.

We are service driven and will be creating several activities and functions this year to support our students,
school and community. We will have 3 afterschool functions, Skate Parties, (one each quarter) in which Student
Council members are required to attend and participate until around 6:30. These skate parties fund our projects.

Process for becoming a Student Council Member.

Step One: Complete the application and turn in to Mrs. Schwartz by September 5. NO late applications, NO exceptions.
Step Two: Interview with Mrs. Schwartz September 8-12.
You must sign up for a time at lunch recess or after school (walkers only).
Step Three: Two students from each 4th and 5th grade classroom will be selected for membership.
(A waiting list will also be created for students who leave the council during the year due to PCS or other reasons.)
The council list will be posted on September 15th near the main office.
Optional: Student Council President Election Week (5th Grade Members Only) will be September 22-26.

NOTE: Being on the Student Council is a LOT of work and a LOT of sacrifice! YOU must be totally committed to this
activity, so please think about this before you apply. You will miss a number of recesses during the yearat least two per
week. Also, you will not be excused from any SC meetings for any other special activities during lunch recess.
So if you love music, or other lunch time activities, do not apply for membership.
