+n SAP "#$, business partners are created centrally. Also the roles that a business partner play, such as sold
,to party and ship,to party are also maintained centrally

Thus a business partner created in SAP "#$ can be involved in any o* the business transaction
modules like sales, marketing and service. This involvement o* the business partner in a business
transaction depends upon the role assigned to the business partner and the partner *unctions involved in
the business transaction

"reating and maintenance o* the business partner in the SAP "#$ is included in the Account $anagement
application within "#$ !eb -+. +n order to work on the business partner, the user need to have access to
the Account management in the !eb -+'

%elow is the SP#O path *or %usiness partner customizing. The Partner Processing implemented *or a
particular business transaction also depends upon the customizing settings implemented *or the
partners. Thus the customizing settings *or the business partners in "#$ are implemented in the SP#O and
once done, "#$ !eb -+ is used to create and maintain the business partners

SAP "#$ supports three possible categories'

A business partner can belong to any one o* these categories. An account can be *urther

+t is not possible to modi*y these categories or to create new categories.
!hen a business partner is created in SAP "#$, category is assigned to it. The business partner category
only assign once while the creation o* the business partner and cannot be modi*ied at later stages o* the
business partner li*e cycle. Thus while creating a business partner you need to select the category as the *irst
step. Also, the account search can be *ilter based upon the account category *or *aster results'

Business Partner Grouping
!hen a business partner is created, a number termed as 5business partner number5 is assigned

partner is created

and has an identi*ier4'

&or e)ample, *rom the above screen shot, business partner with number range 17 will be assigned a number
2891:0;12 , while business partner with number range 1; will be assigned number

This is a se<uential number *rom the relevant number range

+n this case, number can be assigned by the user while creating the record
Or the number can be derived *rom an e)ternal system
+n both cases the number used must lie within the corresponding number range interval
This number range is then assigned to a grouping
SP#O path to assign 6umber #ange to .roup'

%usiness Partner .rouping is basically di**erent number ranges that could be assigned
partner.Thus .rouping can be considered as a container which holds the 6umber #ange settings

!hile creating a %P, user selects the .rouping


Selected grouping identi*ies the number to be generated
+* the grouping is using an +nternal number range, the business partner number will be auto assigned while
saving the %usiness Partner

Business Partner Roles
The %P 3%usiness Partner4 roles assigned to a business partner re*lect the partner2s *unctions and the
business transactions in which the partner may be involved.

+t is possible to assign more than one business partner role to a business partner
This means a business partner can be involved in di**erent business transactions with di**erent
%ut the general in*ormation o* the business partner like name, address, etc. are entered only once
+t is possible to create custom %P roles as per the business re<uirement

BP Relationships
A business partner can have relation with another business partner.
A connection between two business partners is *ormed using the 5business partner
!ithin SAP "#$, relationship between business partners is described with business partner relationship

Account Classification
SAP "#$ provides *unctionality o* account classi*ication using which you can classi*y your
according to any criteria. This is particularly use*ul when a large enterprise needs to classi*y di**erent
business areas according to di**erent criteria

+t is possible to per*orm search *or accounts based upon these classi*ication criterion
Account classi*ication is also available as an individual assignment block on the Account page'

As per the re<uirement account criteria can be combined to create "lassi*ication "ategory. (ach
classi*ication category can consist o* up to A criteria and any number o* attributes as per the re<uirement

SAP "#$ provides /01 view o* the business partner. This means that all the data related to the business
partner can be checked in one place. +n the header data it is possible to maintain and display the data which is
applicable in all scenarios like the *irst name, last name, %P number, etc. There are separate
*or data like %P #ole, %P #elationship, etc. Also we can *ind all the business transactions within which the
business partner is involved. &or e)ample, there is an assignment block 5Opportunities5 which displays all the
opportunity business transactions in which the business partner is involved
+t is possible to navigate to the corresponding business transaction document *rom these assignment block
data. Also, we can create new business transactions through these assignment block. That is, using the new
button on Opportunity block it is possible to navigate to the Opportunity page and create an opportunity
with respect to the business partner

Thus, the SAP "#$ supports the maintenance o* the complete business partner li*e
which makes it convenient *or the end user to use and helps in the reporting purpose
