Hunters: Te Red Lake Indian Reservation and scattered parcels of reservation land in the
surrounding area are closed to non-band members of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians
except by authorization of the tribal council. Most of those lands are not posted, but they are
marked in ownership plat books for Beltrami, Lake of the Woods, Koochiching, and Roseau
counties. Please see page 123 of the 2013 Hunting and Trapping Regulations Handbook for more
information.

Any person in doubt about a bound ary should check the
rules governing the 2013 Minnesota Deer Sea sons.
In the south ern and western portion of the state shown in the
map below, the only legal re arms for deer are shot guns using slugs,
muzzleloaders*, and handguns legal for big game.

Intensive Deer AreasTere is no drawing for permits. If you hunt in one of
these areas, you can take a deer of either sex with your initial license. You can use
any combination of licenses or permits to take up to ve deer.
Lottery Deer AreasYou must apply for one of these permit
areas by Sept. 5, 2013. All rearm and muzzleloader hunters
must apply. If successful, the permit will be valid during either
season, provided you have a valid license for that season. Bonus
permits are not allowed.
