The AMC 8 is an examination in middle-school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills.
All students in grades 6 (or below), 7 and 8 are eligible to participate in this math competition.
AMC 12 students who rank in the top 5% nationally will qualify for the AIME.
AMC 10 students who rank in the top 1% nationally will also qualify for the AIME.
The USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) and the USAJMO qualifiers are selected from the top students on the AIME.
