designershouldapplyAISC360andAWSD1.1tocomputethestrengthoftheweldedplate.Wecansaythatthe
embedmentsgiveninTable1ofESR2907weredeterminedinaccordancewithACI318todevelopthefullstrengthof
theanchorstudsintension.TheallowabletensioncapacitiesinTable2arethestudstrengthbasedonFyandFudivided
byafactorofsafetyof4forallowablestressdesign.TheembedmentsinTable3weretakenfromtestsinconcreteat
thestatedembedmentsowecannotsaywhetherthefullshearstrengthofthebarisdeveloped.

2.WhichACwasusedtoissuethisreport?Thereportdoesnotstatethisinformation.
Reply:ThereportholderwasnotinterestedincomplyingwithIBCSection1912,butpreferredthelessrigorousand
morelimitedscopeallowedinIBCSection1911.Accordingly,weputtogetheraplanthatmirroredAC320,whichis
consistentwithIBCSection1911.Thatiswhatweusedtoevaluatetheanchorstuds.WecouldnotreferenceAC320in
theESR2907sincetheproductdiffers,butweappliedthekeytechnicalrequirementsfromAC320inourevaluation.
