Unity in diversity (also commonly rendered as united in diversity) is a concept of "unity without

uniformity and diversity without fragmentation"

that shifts focus from unity based on a mere
tolerance of physical, cultural, linguistic, social, religious, political, ideological
and/orpsychological differences towards a more complex unity based on an understanding that
difference enriches human interactions.
Historically , Indian Society have divided into two major ethnic groups as (1) Aryans
( mainly North Indian , Central Indian , Eastern Indian , Western Indian ) came from
Eurasian countries & (2) Dravidians ( South Indian) are native of India . Racially,
They are different . Aryans are bright and Dravidians are black in color . The Basic
ethnicity & racial factor of both is different . But due to their Cultural similarity &
attractions ( Onam ( Kerala) , Dandia ( Gujrat ) , Durga Pooja (North & East India ) ,
Lohani ( Punjab & Haryana )) , they are closely related . Most of the population of
India is Hindu .
Hindu is the dominating religion in Indian Society from centuries , among
other religion like Bauddh , Jain , Shikh , Christian and Islam . But the impact of
Hindu religion is influencing because 80.5%( according to Census of India 2001 )
population is Hindu . Due to its influence , other religion have adopted some rituals
and festival ( Chhatth & Durga Pooja are celebrated by Hindu , Shikh as well as
Muslims in Bihar-UP & West Bengal and MP ) from Hindu . Today, Hindu is
worshiping in Masque , Church & Gurudwara & also , others are also going in
Temple which shows there unity . According to their religion & culture , they have
diversity in languages also.
More than 30 language ( Hindi , Tamil , Bengali , Kannad , Gujrati etc ) in
India shows great diversity . Most of the population is using Hindi for communication
. But , still , English is the single language in India which bounds North to South &
East to West in single garland .
Apart from above variations , Regional Diversity is important factor .
Which consist of Natural factors as topography , climate , soil etc . Due to Regional
Diversity , Agricultural activities are , also , different as production of Rice ( West
Bengal , Gangatic Plain , Costal regions of Andhra Pradesh , Tamil Nadu
Chhattisgargh etc ) , production of Wheat ( Punjab , Haryana , Plain of Ganga etc )
production of Pulses , Maze , Oil Seeds ( Rajsthan , MP etc ) , Production of Cane
Sugar ( Maharashtra , Plain of Ganga etc ) Cotton ( Maharashtra , Gujraat etc ) ,
production of Tea & Coffee ( Assam , West Bengal etc ) & Spiece ( Western Ghat
regions ) . But using proper transportation each and every state is connected which
secure their food requirement . Today , Transportation & Communication services are
facilitating Industrialization which is todays Cross Cultural of India which is
strengthening Unity is such regional diversity .
Geographically, some part of India is rich in minerals ( Coal , Copper , Iron
etc. ) which provides support for Industrialization . These Industries are acting as Pull
Factor for other states by providing employment . These Industrial & Commercial
zones are , also , acting as center of cross culture . Which binds whole India in a
Single Garland . Formulation of Govt.s Policies and Programs are also providing
bone to Unity of India .
Govt. project regarding National Power Grid , National River Grid ,
Hydropower Project , Nuclear Power Project and other Policies which are region
specific but they are servicing whole Nation . By Providing provision of Secularism ,
Indian Constitution is proving the Concept of Unity in so many diversity .
