NHF recently conducted an on-line survey in relation to the Kids Size Me initiat

ives with
the members of the Restaurant Association of Ireland (our project partner), to
determine the level of participation in the initiative, positive/negative effect
s of
involvement and barriers to involvement. NHF will drive the project forward base
d on
results.
NHF is still working with the Camogie (the female national sport) Association on
a
nutrition and physical activity booklet and diary for 14 - 18 year old players.
A launch
date of the week of the 19th of November is anticipated.
NHF & safefood are awaiting feedback from Dil (the Irish Government) catering
manager with regards to tent cards for canteen tables with tips on nutrition and
physical activity for customers.
NHF met with consultant obstetrician from the national maternity hospital in rel
ation to
developing a pregnancy related phone application.
NHF is currently developing a pilot study with measurement for revamp of NHF's
workplace wellbeing campaign. NHF received numerous applications for an inaugura
l
research bursary; the award will be made early November.

Current or recent work within the organisation:
In the Spring term, GAVs Balance Nutrition education project was implemented in
10 schools in each of 4 cities as a pilot scheme, and reached more than 20,000 c
hildren.
To evaluate the success of the pilot scheme we applied the Self Check questionna
ire,
developed by a cooperation of GAV Science Committee Members and Hohenheim
University, to the children and their teachers. Some 267 teachers involved in th
e
Schools Education programme have completed the self-check programme. Preliminary
analysis shows a diversity of knowledge and eating habits prior to the intervent
ion
though it is too soon to draw any specific conclusions. The self-check programme c
an

GAV announced the latest developments in the "Balance Nutrition" education proje
ct at
a press conference on 17th of April in Istanbul. The meeting was attended by: Fu

Education; Prof. Dr. Tanju Besler, Dean of Hacettepe University Faculty of Healt
