PHASE I
Introduction
1.1 Backgrounds
In this era of globalisation, it is not unusual to see people who in one country
within hours have been travel to another country, or even another continent. The
state of health of that person will have big influence in country which is they are
travel to. If that person travel from one country to another country with a bad state
of health like having a contagious disease, then it will be dangerous to that country,
because a contagious disease is very easily spreading among person. From this
matter the Travel Medicine was developed.
The travel medicine itself is a new science that still developing in Indonesia .
Travel medicine is important sector to be developed in this globalisation era
especially in a country which is the mobility of the people is high and also the
country that used tourism as one of the economic assets.
Many number of people currently have very easy acces to go to another country
and it is become problem on its own. In Bali itself, especially as a tourism island
resort that many foreign tourist have visited, have to overlook for the kind of tourist
who want to come here. The one that should be keep in watch not just their pleasant
in our tourism sector but also in our health service, because there also many tourist
who stay in this island for a long time. During their stay in this island they have risk
to be exposed by disease in this country or even transmit the disease from their
country to this island itself. The disease that happened to them is not the only one
concern in Tourist health problem (Travel medicine). Their security and safety also
have to be overlooked by the government.
In Bali itself the number of death in foreign tourist happened quite a lot. Based
on Sanglah Hospital data in year 2012, until this mid year that is June 2012 there
have been 59 number case of death. Which is the death by natural cause are 12
people, suicide death are 3 people, the homicide are 2 people and undetermined
death are 36 people.
If we see from the Forensic Medicine science, the death of the foreign tourist
can be classified by 2 group that is Natural Death and Unnatural Death. Natural

death is the death that occurred without intervention and usually due to an illness
suffered by that person. While Unnatural Death is death that happened not naturally
and usually there is intervention from the others, it can be further divided into
categories such as accidents, homicide, and suicide, and undetermined.
For the homicide category in the foreign tourist itself become a matter that must
monitored. Eventhough there is still small number of homicide in foreign tourist in
this island, it can be an adverse effect in the future of our tourism. Therefore it is
very important to know and to make clear a manner of death from the foreign tourist
in order not to make a bad image about our tourism, because a homicide especially a
murder case can be a bad indicator to our safety and security in this country.

1.2 Problem Identification
The Problem that need to be identified in this scientific writing are:
1. How to determine the Cause of death, Mechanism of death, dan Manner of death
based on Forensic Medicine ?
2. How to diferentiate between homicide and the other manner of death?

1.3 Aims
The aims for this scientific writing are:
1. To complete the elective study program in Udayana University
2. To know more about the death based on Forensic medicine and its relation with
the travel medicine

1.4 Benefits
The benefits of this scientific writing are:
1. Increase the knowledge in writing a scientific report
2. Increase the knowldege about Forensic Medicine generally
3. Give the reader information about the death and its relation with Travel
medicine based on Forensic Medicine
