Recognize direct
quotations in text.
Assessment will be
conducted by grading
knowledge checks that
present students with 5
technology-enhanced
questions.

Answers will be graded by
the system and produce
automatic feedback. A
failing grade will require the
learner to review the lesson.
Data about pass/fail will be
collected and reported to the
allied health team manager.

Watch a Prezi presentation
that defines direct quotation,
paraphrase, plagiarism, and
citation and shows examples
of direct quotations and
paraphrases in a lesson text.

Audio narration and
automatic play will be
available for learners who
prefer multimedia learning.
Learners also have the option
to mute audio and instead
read a transcript. They may
also click through the slides
at their own pace.

Learners may print a
reference guide for the topic
by clicking a link embedded
in the presentation.

Complete a
knowledge check
of 5 hot-text items
embedded in a
passage; learners
must click on the
sentence that
contains a direct
quotation.

Differentiate between
indirect quotes (need in-
text citations) and
correctly paraphrased
text (does not need in-
text citation).

actual resources.

Complete a knowledge check of 5 constructed response items
by reading information (e.g., title, author, publication date)
and creating a properly formatted citation by typing the
elements of the citation in the correct order into the answer
blank.

Bonus practice activity: Complete a scramble activity with 5
questions. The learner will be presented with scrambled (in
random order) elements of a citation and will drag and drop
the elements into the correct position to create a properly
formatted citation. Each question will have a time limit that
will be shortened as the learner progresses from question 1 to
question 5. The goal is to increase the speed at which the
learner can recognize elements and put them in the correct
order. Speed is a secondary, not primary, goal for learners, so
this activity is optional and is not graded. Learners may
complete the activity as many times as they choose.

Successful completion of all 5 questions in the time limit will
unlock a short animation that congratulates the learner for
choosing to go above and beyond the basic requirements.

Locate the correct
information to place in
an in-text citation,
including author(s) last
name(s) and first and
middle initial(s), article
titles, abbreviated journal
names, date, issue,
volume, and page
number(s).

The final product will be
graded using a rubric that
evaluates the enabling
objectives as proficient
(e.g., 70 to 100% of
citations formatted
correctly), progressing
(e.g., 50 to 70% of
citations formatted
correctly), or emerging
(e.g., less than 50% of
citations formatted
correctly). Learners with
a grade of progressing
will have the option to
review the lessons and
complete the activity
again. Learners with a
grade of emerging will be
required to review the
lessons and complete the
activity again.

The assessment will be

collected by the allied

Watch a Prezi
presentation that
explains how to format
reference pages and
sequence references
using the AMA Manual
of Style and shows
examples of correctly

most often formatted
incorrectly.

Learners will have the
option to download
and/or print a PDF
quick reference guide for
AMA formatting by
clicking on an embedded
link in the presentation.

Audio narration and
automatic play will be
available for learners
who prefer multimedia
learning. Learners also
have the option to mute
audio and instead read a
transcript. They may also
click through the slides at
their own pace.
Learners will be given a page of lesson text with in-text citations
included in the text and a list of unformatted references. They will
create a reference page for the lesson slide using AMA formatting.
The assessment rubric will be given to learners at the beginning of the
activity.

After the final product is assessed, the learner will be given a copy of
his/her reference page and a copy of the rubric for future reference.
