Koruma ve onarm almalar, 2012 kaz sezonunda,
kentin kuzey tarafnda yer alan Kuzey Nekropol
Caddesi olarak adlandrdmz alanda srdrlm
(Res. 1); youn bitki dokusunun temizlenmesinin ardn-

The 2013 campaign of Olympos excavations was con-
ducted, as planned, to continue the work started the
year before in the areas of conservation and repair, store-
house and database, measurements and landscaping

Conservation and repair work was conducted in the
North Necropolis Street in the northern part of the city
during the 2012 campaign (Fig. 1), and the structures
were opened to visitor access following the cleaning of
vegetation. For this purpose measures were taken against
life-threatening issues such as collapse and cave in as
well as damage to the structures by natural elements. The
walls of the buildings in the street were repaired. Repair
and reinforcement work at the Vaulted Tomb started as
per approved; projects for the conservation and repair
of these structures was completed in early 2013.
* The 2013 work at Olympos started on 1 January with the
budgeted money rolling over from 2012, and repair work
under the supervision of the Antalya Museum Directorate
continued until 15 March. When the budgeted money for the
2014 campaign from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism
became available, the 2014 campaign began lasting from 14
August 14 to 15 September. Team members were Asst. Prof.
Dr. E. Ukan of Anadolu University, Dr. M. ztakn and Dr.
G. ztakn of Pamukkale University, PhD candidate S.
Evcim of Anadolu University, Dr. . E. nc of the Istanbul
Archaeological Museums, masters student M. C. Uzun, art
historians S. Sertel and B. Yldrm, architect J. Y. Peker, Asst.
Prof. Dr. H. Sami ztrk and C. Pilevneli of Istanbul Univer-
sity, and the state representative P. Asal. Repair and reinforce-
ment work continued under the supervision of the Antalya
Museum Directorate, and fieldwork ended on 13 December.

Strengthening work in Insula 5 continued (Figs. 2-6).
Repair work was carried out in Room M1 south of
Building 5, M4 north of it, Rooms M5 and M6, on the
exteriors north and west faades and the doorway inter-
connecting M1 and M5. In addition, the west wall of and
north-east room in Insula 4 required urgent intervention
and were reinforced.
Before applying mortar, the exterior surfaces of the walls
and mortar bands were cleaned with pressurized water
and air. Then envelopes were prepared in order to con-
fine the injected mortar within the wall itself, and the
mortar was injected for reinforcing the walls. The same
was applied on the walls themselves. This was followed

Balangcndan itibaren kazlarn nemli bir ayan da
lm ve projelendirme almalar oluturmaktadr.
Antik kentteki yaplarn belgelenmesi ve dokmantasyo-
nunun yaplmas amacyla planlanan, kentin boyutlu
modelleme projesine altlk oluturmak iin yaplarn
lazer tarayc ile llmesi ve bu verilerin bilgisayar orta-
mnda ilenmesi ii ekibimiz tarafndan gerekletiril-
mektedir. Bu almada kullanlan teknik ekipman
Anadolu niversitesi Proje Birimi tarafndan desteklenen
proje kapsamnda salanmtr. lmler sonucu elde
edilen verilerle sadece kentin boyutlu modellemesi
deil ayn zamanda rlve, restitsyon ve restorasyon
projelerinin hazrlanmas almalar da ekip yelerince
devam ettirilmektedir.
by cleaning the mortar courses in all the walls using a
wire brush and spiral machine. Aggregates in the mortar
were exposed, thus giving the original look to the walls.
Database work was conducted at the storehouse on
excavation finds, which increase immensely every cam-
paign. The work encompassed the systematic and secure
storage of pottery, glass, metal and stone finds as well as
compiling statistical information. Measurements and
project preparations have formed an important part of
the expedition since the very beginning. 3-D laser scan-
ning of the buildings and their digitalization have been
undertaken by the excavation team for the purpose of
future 3-D modelling project. The technical equipment
used for this work has been procured for the project
through the support of Anadolu Universitys Project
Department. Data thus obtained is used for the 3-D
modelling of the city and relev, restitution and restora-
tion projects of the monuments are currently under
preparation.
