As Americans we are surrounded by the cultural myth of continual growth, progress and advancement. It seems to me
this is our contemporary version of Manifest Destiny, which drove our forefathers from the Atlantic to the Pacific as they
established what we now know as the United States of America, one of the greatest countries the world has ever
known. Growing "bigger and better" is part of our DNA as Americans.
But when I read the story of God working in and through his people I see times to advance and ties to pull back. The
third chapter of Ecclesiastes seems to describe the ebb and flow of life for individuals and groups as honestly and
realistically as anyone ever has.
Over the past year under the strong passionate leadership of Michelle and Crystal, Life House Ministries has grown from
an idea and dream in the hearts and minds of a few to an active ministry touching the lives of many. The past 16 months
have been a time of incredible growth. Going from dream to active support groups, helping build solid families and even
getting a home for use in transitional housing is nothing short of remarkable. It is a testimony to the grace of God poured
out on this ministry and hard work of Michelle, Crystal and all the volunteers who generous gave of themselves to see this
ministry become a reality and grow.
Now, however, it appears we are entering a new season in the life of Life House. Over the past year through some
generous start-up contributions and support of a few very generous donors financial resources have been available to
have a paid staff directing Life House and its ministry. But now those finances are no longer available and so we are
forced to cut our expenses as faithful stewards of God's resources. In an effort to extend our remaining resources
Michelle has graciously resigned from her paid full time position as Director of Life House and chosen to step into the role
of part time volunteer. This will obviously bring some changes to the ministry but it won't bring the ministry to an
end. Leslie Oosterwyk, Kathy Hudec and Sue Robinson are going to increase their involvement picking up leadership for
our Monday Support Groups and Solid Families program along with other tasks in the ministry. They can't fully replace
Michelle but Life House will continue with a new flavor under the guidance of these three gifted women and ministry will
continue to share the love of Jesus with those in need.
It is my prayer that you will keep Michelle, the Board of Life House, its volunteers and most of all the young women and
their children whom we minister to in your prayers. I pray that for those of you reading this will ask God if now is a
season in which you are being called to become more involved in this ministry. Finally I pray that those of you who have
financially supported Life House in the past will be able to continue so ministry to those in need can continue.
In closing, I want to again thank Michelle, Crystal and all who have made the past year such an exciting year for the
ministry. I am looking forward to the surprises God is going to bring our way in the next season of Life House.

The Hebrew word translated as 'moved' in verse two is "rachaph", meaning "to hover; as a bird hovering and brooding over it's
young". Merriam- Webster defines Hover as: to stay very close to a person or place.
We have an incredible opportunity to receive perspective in the midst of the unknown and see that even in the darkness, God
is there, hovering, guiding, directing, leading, creating and breathing life into our circumstances. How awesome is that?
Life House is in a season where we know and trust that God is hovering over what is a difficult and challenging time. I will
personally continue to financially support this amazing ministry, volunteer at the weekly support groups and continue to speak
at churches and groups on behalf of the ministry when my schedule allows. I will also be attending our upcoming Open
Houses and the 5k in September!
There are a number of ways YOU can help Life House Ministries through this transition.
1. Pray for wisdom and endurance for the board as they make critical day-to-day decisions.
2. Share Life House with friends, family and acquaintances. Help us network with local community churches &
organizations that will bring in volunteers and sustainable funding.
3. Volunteer! We need strong key volunteers to help spearhead programs, help with office duties, assist with the
website and email, technical duties and minister to clients.
I am thankful and humbled for my time as the Director at Life House, helping to grow this brand new ministry from the ground
up and getting to know some of the most courageous women on the planet. I am forever changed!
