withtechnologyastheyprogressinschool.ThisclasswillbeaBYODenvironmentwhichallowsstudentsto
bringintheirownelectronicdevices(phones,tablets,laptops,etc)touseinthelearningenvironment.I
understandthatbothparentsandstudentsmightbeapprehensivetobringthesedevicestoschoolincaseof
lossortheft.Toaddressthis,Iwillofferthestudentsanopportunitytoplacethemintoalockedcabinetfor
safetyandsecurity.Wewillusebeusinganumberofresourcesintheclassroomthisyear.
Notebooks:
Studentswillberesponsibleforkeepinganotebookforthisclass.Classworkwillbekeptinthesenotebooks
andwillbeperiodicallycheckedtoensurestudentsarekeepingupwiththecoursework.
Grading:
Gradinginthisclassisnarrowedto2categories:TestsandProjectswillbe75%ofyourgrade.Classworkand
homeworkwillbecombinedforatotalof25%ofyourgrade.
Assignments:
Allassignmentswillhaveaduedateandstudentsareallowedtoturninworklateatapenaltyofalettergrade
perday.Studentsareheldtohighexpectationsandifthoseexpectationsarenotmetwillbegivenadditional
opportunitiestoredotheirwork.
MakeupWork:
Studentsareresponsiblefortheirworkwhenitismissed.ItwillbelocatedonEdmodo.comaswellaslocated
inthemakeupworkcrateslocatedinmyroom.Youmayalsoaskaclassmateforassistance.

ClassConsequences:
Studentsarealloweduptothreestrikesfortheirbehavior.Aligningwithourcorevalues,theconsequencesare
basedontheideaofreflectionandrestoration.Consequencesarenotnecessarilyprogressiveasallsituations
areunique.Someoftheconsequencesincludebehaviorreflectionforms,restorationactionplans,lunch
detention,timeowed,parentcontactsandofficereferrals.
LeavingtheClass:
Studentswillreceive6studentpassesevery9weeks.Theyareresponsibleforkeepingthem.Iftheylosethem,
theywillnotbereplaced.Thesepassesaretobeusedforgoingtotherestroom,goingtotheirlocker,etc.
Concerns:
Itismyaimforstudentstobegintotakeownershipovertheiracademicsandbehavior.Iaskthatifstudents
haveconcerns,thattheycomeanddiscussthemwithmefirst.Ifwecannotresolvetheissue,thenIammore
thanhappytomeetwithparents/guardianstoaddresstheconcernsandworktowardasolution.
