Control Unit Replacement Instructions for MASTERPACT

INSTALLATION
1. Remove power screws and lift off cover.
Remove Old Control Unit 2. Remove wire cover.
DANGER
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, BURN, OR
EXPLOSION
This equipment must be installed and
serviced only by qualified electrical
personnel.
Turn off all power supplying this equipment
before working on or inside equipment.
Always use a properly rated voltage sensing
device to confirm power is off.
Replace all devices, doors and covers before
turning on power to this equipment.
Failure to follow this instruction will result in
death or serious injury.

Install New Control Unit 4. Remove wire cover.
5. Connect wires, matching phases.

If replacement control unit has different features
than old control unit, terminal block (secondary
disconnects) on the circuit breaker and/or cradle
may have to be added or removed. Contact
factory for more information.
Neutral plug is only available on
4-pole circuit breaker or 3-pole circuit
breaker with external neutral sensor
connection.

CAUTION
HAZARD OF EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Connect wires to match phase sequence
(N, 1, 2, or 3) between trip unit and circuit
breaker.
Failure to follow this instruction can result in
equipment damage.

6. Place control unit (A) on circuit breaker, tighten screws, (B) and replace
wire cover (C).

TESTING
This is an instantaneous tripping test (trips in
less than one second) using a single-phase
primary current injection between the line and
load of each pole of the circuit breaker.
This tests the connection of the
current sensor to the control unit
only.This test is not designed to
calibrate the circuit breaker.
Calibration tests are completed
at the factory before shipping either
the circuit breaker or the control unit
alone.
Test control unit according to the appropriate
table:
STR18M: see table 1
STR28D: see table 2
STR38S, STR58U
with ground-fault protecton: see table 3
without ground-fault protection: see
table 4
