Presidency Message
In an address given in the October 1993 General Conference, Sister
Virginia Pearce spoke on the importance of ward families. She stated that
ward families are a great and miraculous part of Heavenly Fathers plan.
She challenged us to expand our appreciation of the power of the ward
family and renew our commitment to participate positively in that
community of Saints.
Sister Pearce listed several ways that ward families help strengthen
each other:
1. Ward families provide a sense of belonging.
2. Ward families provide the reassurance of listening ears.
3. Ward families provide encouragement.
4. Ward families are a refuge.
5. Ward families provide ways for us to contribute.
6. Ward families provide a laboratory for us to learn and practice the
gospel.
Sister Pearce concludes her talk with the invitation to love whatever
ward you are inparticipate in it, enjoy it, learn from it. Each of us can
envision our ward or branch as a Zion community and then work to make it
that way.
What a wonderful opportunity we have as a new ward to become that
Zion community! We live in such an exciting time and the Lord has made it
possible for us to work together to hasten His work as members of the

Ward Relief Society. As a presidency, we are grateful for you,
our new ward family. There are so many talents and such strong
testimonies among you. Let us strive to work together to experience the
power and the blessings of our ward family. Sister Christina Pay

Visiting Teaching Corner
This Months message:
The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Messiah

The scriptures teach that we can dwell in the
presence of God through the merits, and mercy, and
grace of the Holy Messiah (2 Nephi 2:8). Messiah is an
Aramaic and Hebrew word meaning the anointed. ! In
the New Testament Jesus is called the Christ, which is
the Greek equivalent of Messiah. It means the anointed
Prophet, Priest, King, and Deliverer.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve
Apostles testified: I know [Jesus Christ] is the Holy One
of Israel, the Messiah who will one day come again in
final glory, to reign on earth as Lord of lords and King of
kings. I know that there is no other name given under
heaven whereby a man [or woman] can be saved.

[Jesus Christ] is the Savior and Redeemer of the
world, said President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second
Counselor in the First Presidency. He is the promised
Messiah. He lived a perfect life and atoned for our sins.
He will ever be at our side. He will fight our battles. He is
our hope; He is our salvation; He is the way.

Consider This
Why is it important to understand the Saviors role as the
Messiah?

The 10
th
Ward Relief Society Theme for 2014 is: Becoming a Zion People.

And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one
mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.
Moses 7:18.

As important as it is to have this vision in mind, defining and describing Zion will
not bring it about. That can only be done through consistent and concerned daily
effort by every single member of the Church. No matter what the cost in toil or
sacrifice, we must do it. - President Spencer W. Kimball
