William Shakespeares Biography

I. Early Life and Married Life

William Shakespeare was a son of John Shakespeare and Mary Aden. He was the
third child out of eight. His birthday is unknown, yet it is always observed on April
23, 1564. He was baptized as a catholic on April 26, 1564. He was born and
baptized in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Scholars and biographers have agreed that Shakespeare attended Kings New School
in Stratford since this school would have provided intensive classes on Latin
grammar and classics.
William Shakespeare, at the age of 18, married Anne Hathaway, who was 26
years old. They had three children, Susan and Hamnet and Judith who were twins.
II. Writing Career
Shakespeare was a known poet and dramatist. He was often regarded as the
greatest writer in English language and world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often
called as Englands national poet and Bard of Avon.
The year when William Shakespeare started writing was not known. Though,
contemporary allusions and records of performances show that several of his plays
were on the London stage by 1592.
From 1594, Shakespeare's plays were performed only by the Lord Chamberlain's
Men, a company owned by a group of players, including him. Soon, it became the
leading playing company in London. Its name was later changed to the King's Men.
In 1593 and 1594, plague caused the closing of theaters. In these years,
Shakespeare published Venus and Adonis and The Rape of Lucrece that were both
on erotic themes. A Lovers Complaint followed afterwards.
His other works are: The Comedy of Errors; The Merchant of Venice; Romeo and
Juliet; Hamlet and many more which include his other plays, sonnets and poems.
III. Later Years and Death

Shakespeare wrote fewer plays after 1606-1607, and that none were attributed
to him after 1613. The last three of his plays were collaborations.
Shakespeare died on 23 April 1616. He was buried two days after at the chancel
of the Holy Trinity Church. There was a curse about moving his bones written with
the epitaph that was carved into the stone slab that covers his grave.
